  1. Well I could not get any soft cord at the right price this time, I have the market for it but am going to have to move it to hard that I bought a year ago from Nick. A
  2. I assume the modifications you mention are in the 300 and maybe 320. One thing I dont like about them is the wedge height screw adjustment., other than that they look a decent machine. A
  3. That I may well take you up on, I am near Mi J18. Using a machine for a few hours you soon find out the niggles, far better than a 10 minute demo with perfectly straight silver birch. A
  4. I am not a farmer although my brothers are, there is truth in the fact that in years of bad harvests the price does rise. Quite where it is at present I dont know, probably 180-200 a tonne. But at 2 1/2 tonnes to the acre even at £200 a tonne there wont be any profit much. A
  5. I did have a look at the show layout to see how I missed you. I then found that I did have a brief look at your machines, you were in the middle of the wooded section, I had bad gout that day and those granite cobbles were giving me hell. There did not seem to be anyone about on the stand so I moved on !!. It might be an idea in future to shove a price board on the machine, that should attract a bit more attention from those serious about buying something like a Posch 350 or a Palax 90 but are taken aback by the price. I would find it hard to justify 25k for a machine on the volumes I do at present but 12k might be more realistic especially if there is a trade in deal to be done. There was no details of the feed rack used in teh u tube vid on the manufacturers web site, the one in the vid looked very short and was not power fed. I assume the controls on the machine would allow the use of a powered feed deck, ie a chain conveyor and feed rollers into the machine. I do quite like the look of the feed trailer on the BGU site, think Tajfun do a similar one as well. A PS.I watched a vid of the machine on U tube, seems the operator is not to bothered about hearing or his eyes. perhaps thats not required in France.
  6. Everybody did, crap yields and low bushell weight as well, probably the worst harvest financially for 30 years round here. A
  7. Missed you completely at the show, shame as it looks a good machine, certainly ticks a lot of my boxes. Does it have a widish mesh below the splitter and before the elevator to separate the crap?. Does the infeed conveyor go backwards if needed?, How do the belts driving the blade install/adjust, the ones on my present machine are a nightmare to change. How much power is needed to drive it?, currently I use an MF135 (40hp when new, so i suppose now its about run in I have about 35 hp on tap), are you happy to do exchange trade ins?, Not in the market for some months but maybe next year. A
  8. Please post your thoughts post your day here please. The 280 with hyd feed looks nice compared to my manual japa 700. There is a used 300 at Wilsons at present but I am sure you probably have that machine in mind. When I am doing 3m long 250mm + timber on my own that is really tough and so so slow even with a teleporter to load the rack. With the 700 the timber moves into the machine, worked out now that its easier to place the processor closer and lop the logf in half with a chainsaw. A hyd infeed 280 or 300 would stop all that. A
  9. Yes thats it, the company are pretty near me as well. A
  10. The Posch 350 with the rack they were demonstrating with was 23K plus vat. The Japa 385 I quite liked, that started at 9.5k for the basic model going up to about 12 for the all hydraulic version, you would need to add a rack to that though. I had been led to believe here that the Dalen 2054 was about 12K, wrong, thats the 2052, not quite as big and with a 3/8 chain. The 2054 has a harvester bar with a 404 chain. I would imagine that a 404 wide cut in a 400mm log every 250mm will leave a pretty tidy pile of saw dust pretty fast. Did you notice that all the demos were with pretty even straight timber of pretty small diameter. The Posch 350 was splitting logs in half, cutting about 150mm-200mm diameter timber. Even the Bindenberger 500 was not putting anything much over 300mm through when I was watching and that was the biggest I saw, and there was a bloke beside the feed rack chopping off anything dirty in case it fouled the chain. There was another one in the forested bit, RGB?, or similar, looked a copy of most other bar machines, stand was Kilworth Machinery or similar. Think I will look for a tidy used Posch or Palax when the time comes. A
  11. I cut to 240mm, so just over 9 inch and have a diameter no bigger than 150mm, ideally a bit smaller. Every stove I sell will take these logs, 85% of my sales are for small stoves, ( 5kw or less), these usually are able to take 280mm at a push, so 240mm means they go in widthways as prescribed easily. Never had a complaint. A

  13. Its no to bad if you can get 4 drops on one load, then you can do a certain area on a certain day. if you can also get them allpaying an extra tenner so much the better. I have just started to charge for delivery, this depends on volume and distance. I may well do a first delivery at no extra cost, get them hooked into high quality. A

  19. Big machines like the 50x can produce a lot of logs fast but they need to be constantly fed BIG logs that are reasonably straight. A 250mm log going through it wont be any faster than the same log going through a smaller machine. You will also need equipment to handle the logs and feed such a machine. Arb waste is usually cut in far shorter, thinner and more manageable lengths or rings. I was quite impressed with the Posch 350 at the arb show, the new Japa 380 looked a decent bit of kit as well. The JAPA will be at Fuelwood I would think. A

  21. I use 10 hand held Motorrola's running a shoot, range we work at is usually no more than a couple of miles. In my old business we used Motorrola's in vans, has some sets for oiver 20 years, with those you buy areas. In our home area ( Ariel on a mast near Luton) we could get from well south of Watford to Peterborough. A
