  1. I am about to move to them, reviews from five other traders using them locally are a bit mixed, the main bad issue seems to be not answering the phone when the system goes down. Will be saving about 30% compared with Streamline who is my current provider. I saw another reply about post dated cheques, why dont you take a 50% deposit when booking the job, that on a card is covered by the card company so if you dont turn up then they refund to your customer. Take that either by BACS or card over the phone. Helps cash flow, reduces your bad debt exposure and if no deposit paid then no job done. A
  2. PM sent, Or I would have if Treemons in box was not full. I put a friend of mine with a firewood business very close to Nuneaton in touch with Treemon, hence my pm to him. At present I am unable to assertain if they did a deal, if not and they spoke then Owen its all yours as its to far for me to be taking a tractor and trailer. If they did not speak then thats a different scenario, should find out tomorrow. A
  3. Your not first in line !!. A
  4. pm sent.
  5. As long as the engine holds up !!, 7000 or so hours with Ford engines its usually water in the oil and engine rebuild time. Lovely old tractor though, and dont they sound nice when running. A
  6. Please pm me where this is available from, I could do with some especially at that price. Timber I had delivered in April 13 I reconed cost me about £40 a cube for timber + an hour a cube processing. Small machine admitted. I did buy half a container from a friend late last winter that had come from the Soviet block, Birch at 18%-20%, it was exactly as described. Looking to probably buy 2 containers from them this winter. Thanks A
  7. Some years ago a loaded straw lorry from Wales went over on a roundabout near here. Police saw red running out of the tank and called VOSA. They requested a meeting with the owner at the recovery yard to where the truck had been recovered. He turns up and gets done, just as he is leaving VOSA ask what vech he came up in ( a Range Rover Diesel), so they dipped that, red again, so he got done twice. I have run diesel light vans ( 10 at one point) and Landrovers since 1986, none of my vehicles have ever been dipped. So the guy is right, its very unlikely. A
  8. When I looked at making pellets maybe 8 years ago the UK and European production capacity was 30% higher than demand. To make pellets work you really need a CHP plant to burn your excess along the lines of the Balcas set up in Ireland. A
  9. Selling or producing and selling?. Pellet cost to set up to produce is large, profits are simply not there unless you are being paid to take away your feedstock. Cost of firewood cord now makes it almost worth buying in ready cut and dried from the old Soviet Union. Machinery, bags etc do a search here, loads of info. Top flight machines, Palax, Posch, Transaw, maybe Dalen. You will need a teleporter to move timber and/or loaded bags, Manitou are good bits of kit. North Devon is not one of the countries most prosperous areas either. Buying in cord now and looking to sell it this next winter, if felled recently it wont be dry enough in time unless you are kilning it. A
  10. Got to keep the rain off somehow, the roof could slope the other way of you wish. he will build you whatever you want so if you wanted it taller then no probs. The roof boards are solid board as well not feather edge board, the whole thing is pretty heavy. A
  11. Not in small bags or blown loads. I am paying 225 collected for 50 x 20kg bags on a pallet, usually Verdo pellets. A
  12. Lot of money to be tied up doing nothing, cant see situation getting any better. Pellets have almost doubled in price since then but stock material is now having to be purchased rather than being paid to take it away. At the time a mate of mine was paying £250 a week to have a walking floor trailer of sawdust removed. A
  13. I did a lot of research 6 years ago with a view to setting up a pelleting plant, at the time UK and European consumption was 30% less than production capacity so you need a CHP plant next door to burn the excess production. A
  14. Cant see anything about the press on the web generally either. Does not look like its been used in its current location. A
  15. Been shaving for about 45 years now. In the early days I used an electric razor, then grew a beard for about 8 years. I then came to a razor, a two blade Gillette, the result of a shave with that was 24 hours of growth better than the Electrolux. Many many years with that but a year or so ago blades were becoming increasingly hard to come by so now its one of those 5 blade Gillette jobbies, thats 24 hours better than the 2 blade so 48 hours better than the electric. A
  16. 40 years ago I was a young lad selling car exhaust systems, 12 months warranty and 14 months design life for average short run use patterns. The water in the exhaust gases rusted them from the inside out. Long trips meant the exhaust got hotter and evaporated the water, far longer life. A
  17. I did a quote for a stove the other day for a new passive property, heat requirement for the whole property was to my mind unbelievably tiny. A
  18. I was told that Dutch Elm only attacks things above about shoulder high, so an Elm hedge never gets infected but let it get more than about 6 feet high and bingo Dutch Elm. Mt brothers have a low Elm hedge in front of their farm house and that is relevant to them. They let it get up a bit a few years ago and it got walloped, as soon as they saw the issue they cut it right back and it seems to have at least partly recovered. A
  19. My accountant advises me that this year we can claim 100% of the cost of a machine against tax in year one as opposed to the more usual 25%. So that reduces your profit by the amount you spend on the machine, therefore less tax to pay. It seems the govt are trying to persuade companies to invest in capital equipment. As I understand it if your pre tax profit is say 30k you will pay tax on that, if you invest that 30k into a machine your profits are therefore nil so no tax, perhaps I am not understanding it correctly. In effect you are saving about 7k. A
  20. 5 years ago I had BACA make me polo shirts and sweat shirts. I would estimate that each have now had in excess of 250 wear + wash cycles each and they still look good. Not at all expensive either. BACA Industrial Safety & Workwear - Online Store A
  21. Got a feeling that its a legal requirement that all goods should be suitable for the job they are sold for and warranted for a minimum of 12 months. A
  22. 100% tax allowance this year !!. A
  23. As a follow on from my thread of a couple of days ago. Its now been a couple of years since this was discussed, those of you that have bought the TR70 and are selling the end product. A, Are you selling the product as kindling? or as normal fuel, or both. B, How is the product accepted by end users?. C, Roughly what is the repeat order percentages?. D, What sort of money per bag sell out?. E, Who supplies the bags for it?. Currently use SG Baker and Bag Supplies. Thanks A
  24. No its all trimmings from waney edge boards so lots of bark. A
  25. When I re looked at the vid I realised the bags were not that big hence I edited my post and dropped the price a bit. The material is edge strips of various sizes but of uniform thickness. Being Oak it wont do as kindling but I am minded to try and sell it as wood cobbles or similar. Probably cut a few cube with my processor to a similar size and see how they go this winter. What sort if cost am I looking at for the 70?, pm that if you wish. Thanks for your help. A
