Just spat my tea out on this one K
  3. @Timon , I looked at it this year ( not too far from me ) as we seem to struggle to find guys who will turn up . But it would be too many strings to my bow . Definate work opportunity thou. K
  4. @Darkslider 90% of Arb then ๐Ÿ™„ K
  5. I would say a fuvvkwit fast climber can be way more expensive . K
  6. My NPTC training and assessment was on 3 core white nylon with Eurostrops plaited from same, was good course and effective, seen a lot worse methods since. K
  7. Printed this. Put it in every office on Network. And....... K
  8. Which it didnt from UAG 167 notification. Climber fell after finishing work using 2Rope system. The point is, managing risks, which is a lot more than taking a default point and prayer or whathave you. 2Rope can be better. My ha'penny worth is, i climb mostly now for crown inspections on SRT, with a side strop ( going UP and 'looking around' ) but big dismantle or crown reduction i would use 2 systems. Because i can throw line well and its easier. K
  9. Nope you said ' eliminate' make risk to zero, which wont happen at 5mph. K

    Jokes???

THAT would be seriously hilareous! โ˜บ๏ธ K
  11. You see thats not the issue, its perceived risk and actual risk. You can still kill someone with a tractor doing 5mph. Looking where yr going is the start point. K
  12. Grappling hooks the way forward. K
  13. Yup. I have climbed trees and thought ' that looks ok' ( it wasnt) or ' that anchor will be fine' ( gets up and not too fine) or ' fvvk thats a lot of shit coming out the cut' ( like you must have had a lot of- on that tree) then itz stop and have a rethink. That bit is where i think a lot of climber injury n death occurs - the ' carry on' point. Two blokes, one topping down a trunk, that fractured, ripped off a long shred that ragged his harness appart. Other guy climbed ( medium sized tree) that he had nearly finished dismantling- base of trunk collapsed crushing him ( he survived) looking back both are either forseeable or another method would have been better, both guys still ok and happened in last 8 years but i think the ' dunno there, stop an have a fag an a think' is the point where the y would have ended the day better. K ( the second one was a Rail job and we still hearing abt it ๐Ÿ˜ณ)
  14. @Rich Rule, was that fracture end in pic above or below the cut section you were craning off? Was hollowness indicated in the cuts? K
  15. Good opportunity fr a young keen lad, estate jobs never well paid but they clearly are forward thinkers and good chance to pick a lot of knowledge up. K

  20. In these lockdown times itll still get a watching ๐Ÿ˜‹ k
  21. Its the 1 in 1000 cut off ( 1 in 10,000 for domestic incidents ) death rate for stop works and change the system or method, in our small industry compared to Construction, we flag up massively. K
  22. Just been hung over, up a largeish Poplar is enuff ๐Ÿ˜• K
  23. @lum8erjack hmmm, abt how long is a piece of string really, am similar to you and get 200 quid a day for surveying an area of various specifications for a contractor or 80 quid an hour from particular jobs, condition or habitat specs, in Midlands might be worth joining a consultants team that could push up yr experience? K
