@Ty Korrigan best post a pic of part in question cos it's a broad subject. Remember seeing the steel castings of Chieftain tank turrets in Leeds sitting there for 2 yrs whilst the casting stresses left them - so they could be machined to fit properly. K

Iveco cabs are good. MAN similar and reliable, see if Utility company selling off, as they should have good service history. K

...only clicked on this cos thought it was ' mental fatigue' ..... however ! All stresses / bending / shocking and vibration affect the structure of metals. Heat treating is possible with certain methods ( sawdust on aluminium for example ) or welding extra support in . Which also eases stressed parts. K

Its compounded by the ' just in time' model and flexible ( read - we will use you then bin you when we like) working / zero hours contracts. This means that there is no foundations and little reserves to carry company's through lean times - add the screw up of Brexit and its a Iceberg heading fr yr hull. K

The economic fallout of this will be felt for decades, never mind the personal loss. I really have no answers ( put yr money in Forestry ) for current business models, we are loosing money hand over fist and not alone in that. K

What about them ? That is history. We have the UN Convention on Human Rights now. In 21 century abt time We started enacting it properly. In fact as a document it couldn't be easier to understand. ( also point out the US is not a signatory to it. ........ ) K

@Gary Prentise. A) you should be burnt as a witch fr such heresy ( and ' no one expected the Spanish Inquisition fella!) B) niche species are only' there ' when they are ' found' which is not the same as being there all along an not being noticed. This is a small and diverse island with mainland contact, i would never have a problem with 'creating a habitat' to further a species in UK if it assisted Ecological Diversity. Our problem is Climate Change which could throw all bets off ? K -

We import most if not all of our structural softwood timber - sadly it grows better in Poland Norway etc and is harvested more profitably. Great news on Jons project, i hope it achieves but often these schemes are a well meaning tax loss in the end. Glad we lead in innovation and ecology in UK but it always seems small scale compaired elsewhere. K -

@rharrison it's hard work ? but my advice would be find a good mentor who knows his stuff. Do a few days with various tree companies and see how it feels. K
