  3. Cold wet Friday on the border of Brittany and Loire wearing my stylish waterproof from Decathlon. TBH, this second generation is a bit fragile for climbing or brambles.
  4. Mentally ill perhaps?
  5. There have been a few videos on French Arb pages concerning this anathema device. AWAH Z3-FIRE Electric Lifting and Lowering Device for Firefighting Applications with Drill-Powered Pulley WWW.AWAH.STORE Aside from vids of climbers winching themselves into trees (not heard of SRT?) there is one of a Jo-Beau M400 being winched up ramps into a truck. All powered by a battery drill. Interesting piece of kit but that is as far as my interest goes.
  6. Yes, I got a lemon but I'm far from being alone in that.
  7. In town, we've worked in several cedars, Atlas and Deodar. We thinned a Radiata and Deodar growing close together by the old fire station. The Cedar was full of debris, both it's own and that of the pine with several broken branches. Post clearing out and thinning it has since suffered two more break outs. I think our thinning didn't go far enough. We should have taken more time to lighten the ends further to lose end weight as this tree has a history of breakouts. That though would require me working from a mewp as I'm just not that flexible anymore unless I asked Quintin to climb as he is a Niwaki enthusiast.
  8. Dense crown blocking light and too much debris. In this area of Cesson Sevigné a wealthy area of the Rennes Metropolis, several large conifers have been treated similarly and the clients liked the look.
  9. A Scots pine we did near Rennes. It had an interesting form which lent itself to becoming a giant bonsai. It's not tall and in an urban situation with little exposure to wind. Honestly, upon mature reflection I should have added a MEWP and thinned the ends further.
  10. Here is a link to a 'colleague' who specialises in Niwaki pruning large conifers in coastal regions. https://www.facebook.com/share/19ej71t6S4/
  11. B+S Vanguard is hardly.a 'performance' level engine and if it is that vulnerable to differences in oil levels it shouldn't be installed on machinery where this could be an issue.
  12. That epitome of reliability the Kubota V1505 requires valve adjustment at 800hrs whilst the Vanguard Efi at 250hrs Why might that be?
  13. A better tuning package? Sounds like manufacturers spin.
  14. 55 in January. Gonna draw down my private pension fund and buy a large Turnip in the country. Or a MEWP. Or a truck. I dunno what Mrs Lee will let me do TBH...
  15. Why do the tappets need checking so often and why does the engine require plugging in so often when others don't? I just don't get it, the Efi Briggs approved dealer network is incredibly thin on the ground and the two I used were utterly incompetent. How can Briggs sell a product that has such a limited dealer back up? Only Stellantis and Ford have a worse reputation for shonky engines.
  16. Is this just the first year or every year? In France, larger CO2 emitting engines are taxed at first registration capped at €60k for 194g of CO2 per km This has effectively crushed sales of pickups. The Ford Bronco which sells here for €74k has a €60k registration tax. Doesn't yet apply to commercial vehicles.
  17. I'd be interested to know who has serious hours on their Vanguard Efi engines.
  18. Not rising to it, not today...🙈🙉🙊
  19. Teeffff, it's all in the teeffff..! With sharp teeth, and brisk light passes 14hp is enough to demolish even large stumps. You need teeth with a good cutting edge as there is no weight and little torque to work with. Teeth for the FSI are very reasonable from QRMS, certainly not worth sharpening.

I noticed that having a woman in the team changes the behaviour of the 'boys' and her presence is appreciated by clients, especially other women. I would dearly love to have a female apprentice but Alex is a pretty boy so next best thing.
  21. I am reluctant to impose on him as I will buy the parts in Europe.
  22. They are all the same, not a repair. Truly I am without wisdom on this subject. Maybe I'll just buy another set of hammers. I rarely use the flail as it is. During COVID it saw more action with Brits and some French being unable to travel over and their gardens and growing wild as a result.
  23. Do you think that the rotor is incompatible with the Y cutters?
