  1. There's lovely for you...x Ty
  2. Anyone using this mower? Could be an addition to the flock... Hydrostatic, 80litre sac Magnesium alloy lined with plastic body, Kawasaki engine with oil filter. 2k euros Ty
  3. Hello, Our machine has a wee dribble underneath coming from underneath (a bit like our semi-retired groundy) around the area of the roller motor but I just can't work out from where exactly. So I'm considering pressure washing the machine to make a clean base then run the machine up hot and then... Throw bread flour up into the area to see if it sticks to the leak or not. If it was a fuel leak I'd simply light a match but this one is more subtle. Any pointers as to what I should be fettling with before I go jam a finger in the dyke? Our machine is 759 hours today and celebrated by dropping its radiator grill...again. Got to love the devil you know eh? Ty
  4. Pete, Why is the success of the Quadchip design not being followed up and used for a larger version? Are there some constraints with the conception or is G.M keeping it's powder dry for now, ready to blow competitors out of the water in the future...? Ty
  5. You know, in France, not even the Gypsies give you that kind of verbal. If we meet another Arb team out it's handshakes and a shared table at the 'ouvrier' restaurant. Thuggery and intimidation from fellow tradesmen is unimaginable. Horrible to be subjected to such whilst going about your business. Ty
  6. I've just recieved a quote GPS tracking and immobilising from a U.K company. Per machine: 500euros plus vat plus installation at X plus 240euros year monitoring fee. I'll keep trawling for other options... Ty
  7. These days, we sell almost all we produce for 20euros per m3 It goes for garden mulch either fresh or after a period of maturing. The French use the term BRF Bois Rameal Fragmente. That is wood under around 6" from the crown of the tree. There is another name for larger chip 'Plaquettes' which is also used for fuel as well as mulch but is pure wood without any twigs or leaves. Regards Ty
  8. Deadwooding the drive. 3 days work for one side. 2 half days chipping. 1 half day flailmower to mulch the twigs and cones. Ty
  9. The last of the 'arisings' away to the tip and one mother of a stump to grind out. Then the 4 of us started on the 1km long driveway, deadwooding the pines on one side from a MEWP. The other side, over 300 pines, we may be felling for biomass later in the year. I sold the arisings from the grinder as well as the chips from the deadwooding of the pines today which paid the labourers wages as well as our 4 course restaurant meal at midday. I've a new guy from Arbtalk starting a trial Monday as we're struggling to cope with demand. Ty
  10. 200 year old cedar that passed away some 10 years ago. I've put a video of the stem being felled on our FB page SARL Le Jardinier Anglais. To date the largest tree in mass we've removed although many taller. 1.8m dbh and 23m tall. Stump was HUGE and has produced a cool 6m cube of chip which I will sell for mulch once it's matured. Estimated 16 tonnes of usable wood has been given to locals. 30m3 of rakings, bark, brown rot etc to the tip. Ty
  11. Wife will only let me play with 2, passport for scale. These are for our next Morocco trip, easily exchanged there unlike France... Ty
  12. Got paid with a thin wedge of 'Bin Ladens' I love these 500euro notes. Take up less room under my mattress. Ty
  13. Hola! In March 2015 unemployment was 23% in Spain. France 10.6% and U.K 5.4% Happy job hunting! Regards Ty
  14. Well, with vat added and with current exchange rates that is about 53euros per hour which is just over my labour only charge. There again I pay 50% on salaries before tax... Ty
  15. There are forums for Brits living in France full of posts recommending themselves as most excellent artisans, writing gushing over the top reviews again and again to the same tiny audience, painfull to read at times. Ty
  16. Hah, I was flailing the grounds of an overgrown property last Friday with our JD1026. The brambles where 2-3m tall and hid fallen fruit trees. These I just lifted aside with the grab bucket. Ty
  17. I charge: 70euros an hour for a compact tractor and flail mower 42" 90euros per hour for 'long' grass OR 4.5 cents per m2 for regular cutting with the same size tractor mower. Minimum charges apply including travel. Ty
  18. I run a ass reemer and it's head is hydraulic drive... Ty
  19. Hah! This is an all too common a sight in France. Sometimes, you'd never know there was a house in there at all. Ty
  20. Ah, there are 2 types of V profile. I had this issue with the GM CS100 belts, being sold the right length but the wrong profile The wrong profile and they totally 'marche pas'... Ty
  21. Ah, I know those, the HB20 had a triple belt which baffled our suppliers when it eventually shredded itself. The engineers told me to try using 3 individual belts (a fraction of the price of buying one from Bandit I may add) Works perfectly well no loss of power or slippage. Ty
  22. Heat wave moving North from the Med. Expected to reach 35c in Central France later this week... Time to reach for the chainsaw shorts! Ty
  23. Is that the toothed 'polybelt' Huck? I'm thinking about taking ours off and taking it to a national bearing and belt supplier we use to try and get a spare before it every goes. Vital Arbre a friendly competitor to us have just replaced theirs for a mere 800euros which caused me to ramp up my grinding prices again in anticipation...BLEH! Ty
  24. Martin, The bearings have a wee channel and holes which seems to block easily. Even when we purge grease 3 times a day it eventually blocks and the bearing recieves less and less grease. You may dismantle the bearing from it's housing and clean it out or replace. The bearings are quite inexpensive if bought from a bearing supplier. Global supply them with the cast housing which is not required and very expensive. Regards Ty
  25. Hello, Helping a friend expand his business. Here in France, the best deal we have found for a Quadchip 160 roadtow is €25'000 plus vat. This is £18'500 at todays exchange rate. Does anyone have a recent U.K dealer price? Also for a TP160 Regards Ty
