  4. yes the same as all the others
  5. thats just from the silver zig zag bit hitting it, mine had that soon after use, then cracked soon after that!
  6. looks great!! hope you sorted any rust before doing the spray , lost two dodge 50 campers to rust ...still miss the sound of those engines ..lol
  7. a pull rope longer than the height of the tree can really help avoid this !!!
  8. just read it.. properly your right i think i spend too much time on the ground, dropping things on my toes to risk those!
  9. so they dont have any toe protection?? would have thought that was important?

  13. a 346xp would be my choice although that could be somthing to do with the fact its my only saw!! still good for that stuff though, i would stick to pro saws as its tough on saws. carl
  14. petzl should of named it the " crackerjack!" lol
  15. i use flipline for spiking dismantles and lanyard for everything else.
  16. thanks for replys to my question, one more is it using a chest assender? hope so as just borrowed one to try and knock up a quick version to see if i like it. thanks carl
  17. thanks rich that looks simple enough to make, is it much better over a pantin and hand assender and foot loop combo?? thanks carl
  18. i have a nice set by "king tony" ( i know sounds cheap and ****!) but its tough out and has a long ext bar so get nearly 2ft of leverage, good for stubborn stuff. all in a steel case and a lifetime warranty. carl
  19. maybe some people are still learning? maybe doing cash jobs to fund training? its hard to make accurate assumptions by driving past and having a nose, maybe the client requested the tree to be halved. as others have said just try and do the best you can. carl
  20. so airstreams are better then??
  21. i have had a pair of the woodwalkers and thinks they are comfy and have worn well just wondering if the airstreams where 30 odd quid better!? thanks carl
  22. cool thats exactly how i did it and it seemed to just drop off instantly, thanks
  23. cool thanks for the tips, it was just one of those trees with leggy flat limbs that would fit if dropped dead flat, and when hung on and landed on their tip, ER ... didnt fit!! ended up rigging bigger bits for peace of mind and to be honest not sure if it was any slower than just crashing it down, as there a big difference in processing a dropped limb as apposed to lowered one. we were using a back handled saw, a lot easier on the wrists and elbows i find. thanks again. carl
  24. after tips on getting end heavy species( ie macrocarpa) to fall flat down and not hang on. someone suggested " the box cut" seemed to work well although wasnt sure if i was doing it correctly. any thoughts. thanks carl
  25. its really nice for fine woodturning.
