1. 99% of domestic offer to pay as soon as the job is complete. 99% of commercial dont offer to pay.
2. Cheers for the info. We allways took photos and kept proof of DDD trees just in case I thought they wanted something else. I've had TO in the past want an application putting in for a completly dead tree We (more nicely phrased) basically said piss off and come and have a look before we remove it . Suffice to say they didnt even though we gave them 5 days. I wish the LA around here would work WITH the local professional tree companyies instead of against them, they never get any grief from the local pikies or do they care for that matter.
3. You should have gone to college and trained then thats where I was told about it Only jk, theres probably loads of other stuff we are supposed to do/have to comply with every single bleedin law We already have a license so It dont matter to me and I think it is a good thing ONLY when they start pulling EVERY1 over and ask to see the license then promptly fine them. Otherewise I'm paying £100 a year for absolutly nowt.
4. Very impressive carving you have done there and congrats on winning. Dare I ask what it fetched at the auction?
5. Those mushrooms look good and I'm sure you would easily sell them, why not try a local garden centre.I know they wont pay as much as a private customer sale but if your more interested in making them than selling then why not. That owl on the books is outstanding btw. What wood is it carved from?
6. I've used a twin axle one and there a nightmare to move about by hand. I wouldn't use one if it was mainly for domestic jobs tbh to much hassle getting up driveways etc plus you need a 7.5 tonner at least.
7. Look natural to who? I'm sure it will look like a tree that has been fracture pruned and has thrown a load of epicormic out, and until its felled it will allways look like that. Remember you cant polish a turd. Anyhow no offense intended just my opinion

I must of good bored by then and walked back
9. I bet they never did that with the first top saw they brought out (335 I think) that was one very poorly designed saw.
10. The way I see it no one would pay me to climb a tree when I'm 60 so I either have to:- get another job before then, hope that I could become a forman/gang leader and do nothing or run my own company and hopefully have enough work to employ other's to do it for me while I sit back and rack it in (Oh yeah!) So i picked the latter.
11. I couldnt do that because I would forget how much I priced and what the job was
12. Try a Greenmech, we used one years ago and they seemed to produce saw dust no matter what type of brash went into it. It was a totally crap machine to use but produce very fine chip.
13. I think I've done my quota for climbing in the rain to last a life time (try it next 11,000 volt cables to spice things up a bit) Since I'm a bit of a big girls handbag I try to give climbing in the rain a miss these days, but it all depends on the job. It's great when you cancel a job in the morning because its hammering down only to find that an hour later the sun is cracking the flags Bloody Great British weather.

I notice there werent any tub grinders(well not that i could see anyhow) are the horizontal ones prefered over the tubs? Cheers for the info on who won btw, I thought the fairy was nice but I think the hand with feather was my favourite, err or maybe the oak leaf in helmet one not sure now
15. We did have a good laugh at all the peeps wearing chainsaw pants,if you aint using a saw then why on earth would you stick your chainsaw pants on ?
16. I've never charged but have thought about it. It will at least get rid of the time wasters who dont really want a job doing but just want to find out how much it would cost But I'm sure it would also loose quite alot of jobs since everyone does free quotation, well about from the odd dodgy ones who do free "estimates":sneaky2:
17. Personally I also think there is nothing at all natural looking about that tree now. If it couldnt have been left the way it was due to safety reasons then I think it would have been better to fell and replant. Big trees die and need to be replaced and in a large area like that it could have then been allowed to grow naturally without any pruning for a very very long time.

I had a quick look at the show nice and light and at 250 quid cheap aswell. Allthough none of that matters if they aint any good.
19. Now that is poor,so your paying ££££ for a stand to bring peeps to the show then you have to pay to get in aswell! A bit out of order I think. I thought it was a good show, would have prefered the chainsaw carving to have been a bit closer to the pole climbing/events part, and the food was a bit dire. Didnt really like the demo area too spread out and not much demoing going on.
20. I remember ages in an arb mag some1 had modified some motors that moved caravans about and put them on his TW150. A bit for that sized chipper but I'm sure it woulda been great for a bigger machine.
21. Or kick the groundie out and get HIM to push it
22. I use 600ml to a 20L jerry can and have never had any probs with the saws, only time I did was when subbing for some1 who used a 50:1 mix. 50:1 will be fine but I think only if the saws are kept nice and clean(good air flow) tuned spot on and you let them warm up cool down etc etc. When they get hammered a little bit of extra oil helps I think. I bet that Husky,Stihl etc only do there field testing in a nice clean environment(on a bench) with no crud stuck to the cooling fins. I very much doubt they pass there saws to a few tree lads and let them loose with em for a few days. Probably goes without saying for nearly all manufactures of chippers, saws, stumpys etc.

Anyone know which piece won the chainsaw carving? Missed out who won while watching the pole climbing, not as well planned out as last time but still a good show regardless.
24. That will easily take a reduction of a third.Done properly of course Beeches do respond well to pruning they seal over quite well, its when there hacked back to next to nothing they dont always recover. They can also produce new growth from "pollard" points but not always, but you wouldnt be doing that anyway May aswell leave it till the dormant season now,the worst time for large reduction is during leaf fall and leaf form. Oh I am an expert btw (wheres that trumpet) I'm sure there will be other suggestions/advice so dont necessarily listen to mine
