  6. If you modify the chassis in any way you will need to get the vehicle SVA'd, before you can legally use it on the road.
  7. The PCD of the studs if different between Defender axles and Series 2 Disco axles, so your wheels wont fit. For removing snapped half shafts these come highly recommended. http://www.x-eng.co.uk/X-Shaft.asp?MID=33 No need to pull the shaft on the other side.

    Cs38

Well done mate. I had a good day to passed my CS39
  11. I not drinking tonight because as soon as i crack open a beer or two the phone will ring & ill have another tree to deal with.
  12. I was having a nice relaxing morning welding my mates land rover, when the phone rang. It was my mate I subbie for, saying there was an ash tree blocking part of road. I chucked my gear in the defender & met him on site. We cleared the road & were discussing what we were doing next when there was a load crack. We watched a large beech bow (20" dia) brake off the trunk & fall in slow motion of the 20 foot cliff it was on & totally block the road, which we'd driven up 10 minutes before. We ended up with the police closing the road for us, while we spent the rest of the day making safe & clearing the road. It was a Scout Campsite we were working for, they have lost about 10 trees this weekend in the wind. We've still got to go back & clear 3 for them off camping fields. so how did you spend your bank holiday?
  13. Try these http://www.spservices.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=3505 http://www.spservices.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=4036 They are a top company to deal with & carry a large amount of first aid equipment. Martin
  14. Just done my assessment, we used a spare prussik loop & a three way krab. we found the best way was to girth hitch the prussik loop to your bridge, pass the krab through the victims bridge & clip it back to your bridge. This meant you couldnt drop the prussik loop as your fumbling round up the tree.
  15. Cheers Guys No real nervs on the test day. One thing I will say is read up on your assessment schedule, because there lots of questions to answer. Theres no real need to rush, take it at a steady pace. You've got plenty of time. Make sure u strop on at your change overs & test your new anchors before removing your strop. We had to do 2 rescuse one was a casualty with an undamaged rope & the other was a casulaty with a damaged rope. Hope that helps mate Martin
  16. I passed my CS38 today after a weeks training with BASE. It was a great course & I learnt loads. Now to buy some climbing gear so I can get some more practice in. Going back to do my CS39 in a couple of weeks. Only thing is im aching all over. Martin

  18. You should try living in Stafford. Had to nip into town to pick some fuel up & then go & collect a trailer. Every road was solid, local knowledge came into it's own again. Martin
  19. You may find all your kit needs to be LOLER inspected for you to use it on a course. Ive seen this stipulated by some Training Schools. Martin

  22. I rather be carrying more kit than needed. It doesnt take up much space when packed away in a kit bag/ box.
