Anyone got one? A friend of mine, (pro user) bought one 15 years ago and its still going strong, and its a nice little saw too. I saw one on eBay this afternoon and bought it on a whim for £100.... I might send it to spud. Anyway any of you saw nerds want to tell me all about it, I seem to remember its fairly similar in construction to the 357 but less cc and no xp??

I'd like to try an echo, but If i needed a new 50cc saw I'd port a 346. My ported 254 takes loads of pulls to start from cold but starts with one pull every time once warm. It will out cut a 550 and has a great pick up too, and this is a 20+year old saw, the 346 has side chain tensioning and a better chain brake, hence that would be my choice.

I have heard of people running harvester chain on 88's, never tried it though..

Insurance companies are very jumpy about this but actually the chances of you being on a shrinkable clay are slim, look on the maps at the british geological survey (on line) and see if you are, if you aren't then the trees pose no problem.

I have some untreated douglas on a log store door that I made 12 years ago, it is a lovely silver now. Hopefully this will do the same.

Spanish slate, welsh would have broken the bank... there's still a lot to do, including the down pipe.. I'm leaving it natural by the way.

When we first went out there were curtains of green light with stripes going right up. It was bright too.

I didn't bother. We saw them in Iceland and I spent that much time fannying about with the camera that I missed the best of them. They change quite quickly. What we saw tonight was better than we saw in Iceland.

Skyhuck is right, I have been involved in a few insurance cases where trees have damaged neighbouring property, one where the tree wrote off one car and damaged two others, in most cases the tree owner was not liable and the car / home owners had to claim on their own policies. There was one case where the tree belonged to the council and i think they did pay out, but I'm not certain.

I have a TP160 pto machine, we have used a tracked TP too, the build quality is good, and they make good chip, I think the feed rollers don't quite have the crushing / pulling ability of the likes of the TW or the Forst (which we also have). Having said that I would happily have a TP 175. I will defiantly demo one when I buy my next road tow. I am suspicious of the build quality on the TW230.

Don't you just heap the logs into a pyramid shape rather than fill it level?

Just made a new towing eye clevice for the back of the Heizohack after breaking the original one on friday... Turned out ok, luckily I got the local engineers to punch the holes and bend the back plate so all I had to do was weld it up..

Something I keep meaning to try is to get heras fencing, make it into squares, one panel on each side and fill them with logs, put a tarp over them and they still get the wind but not the rain.. At the moment we are just storing them in the shed but we keep running out and having to split more, I need some form of outside storage too..

Most processors run at lower revs because their Hp requirement is so low, its a fuel saving thing. All the ones I have used work in the 400-500rpm range. Its just the lack of HP that the massey has thats the problem. Keep the saw nice and sharp and that will help a little.

Its possible but you still only have 40 horses, the machine will run slower and you will be screaming the tractor. Get a bigger tractor.
