    Tyres

I do lots of road work so duals are out, the radials will be better on the road too. We are only occasionally on wet sites but when we are she soon makes a mess.

    Tyres

Pricing up tyres for the Valtra roof mount. Normal forestry crossplys work out about £900 a corner, they are quite narrow and wear quickly. There are forestry radials that will fit but they work out about £1500 a corner. The radials are 600 mm wide and should solve my sinking problems, the tractor weighs 9.5 ton so she's not great on soft ground. But £6k is a huge amount to spend on a set of tyres. Anyone got any thoughts?
  3. Funnily enough, another Edinburgh tree surgeon has stolen one of my pics and put it on his website, its actually of me too!... not sure where to go with that one..
  4. I like your vids tim, big crew!
  5. Prop-shaft nuts loose...
  6. One big gust can do that. When we had the storms in Edinburgh a few years back there was one gust which blew down trees all over the city.
  7. You must have missed my message Steve, I'll donate a £50 fr jones voucher.
  8. One white glove.
  9. We're using tree smart Arb, it's good but it's 2.5k per year. Backup is good though..
  10. Get a heizohack instead....
  11. How much was the wee mulcher?
  12. Spud did an 034 for us, it was good......
  13. Yep that was the second last pic and was just under 2 ton, the last one was just over... its 11 feet long.
  14. Was using my spud ported 254 on the ground for a crane dismantle today, it was awesome as usual. Of all my ported saws this one is the most remarkable.
  15. A wee upload experiment This is a 2 ton lump, looks small as its so high...
  16. Todays job.. EDIT: sorry arbtalk has started rotating pictures again..
  17. I use the Fuchs system, its amazing that the traditional ones are still being used, fanning about compressing springs getting covered in grease... the fuchs screw on cartridges are one of those inventions that really deserve to wipe out the competition. Mine isn't the pistol grip but either way don't buy another one that takes standard cartridges...
  18. I had one on a 95 hp valmet. It went well.
  19. No. it just made the petzl one seem cheap LOL.
  20. Alpinetrek it's only 20%off now.... By the way if you look in their website there was a head torch for £700! No joke...
  21. I paid £60 for it, it's light years ahead of the cheaper ones, I have had loads. It's worth a hundred if it lasts, it seems well built.
  22. It's coming up to Christmas, I'm not really a gadget fan however it's the time of year when gadgets are bought so let's hear about the good ones. I just bought a new head torch, it's a must in Scotland at this time of year because it's dark all the time. It's a Petzl NAO. Before you google it and see the horrific price and say **** that, I got it cheap, 40% off. However now that I have seen how good it is I'd happily pay full price. Good things are.. it's mega bright: I have had cars with worse headlights. It charges off a USB, no buying batteries, although you can fit two AA's in an emergency. It has a brain, it reacts to the light levels to save battery, you look down at your feet and it dims just the right amount to see where you are going, look up and it's like the front of a world rally car.. If I hadn't bought it for myself I would have liked it as a Christmas present.. Post your favourite gadgets..
  23. I like the story of the Australian kids who crept up to the camera van and unscrewed the number plate then fixed it onto their car and went past flat out several times.
  24. I think you'll find its gearing down, the engine will run at around 2500rpm, the flywheel will normally chip at about 1000, if you know what the flywheel speed will be you can just go directly on with the pto assuming its around 1000 rpm. The TP's run the flywheel at 1000 so they can be run direct off the PTO.
  25. Don't do it!! Get the tajfun version instead. The dealer is sooooo much better. There's not much to go wrong with the winch but even so why take the chance of terrible service? The tajfun will be near enough the same price and the dealer is excellent. I wouldn't buy another uniforest unless they get a new importer.
