A few from yesterday: Andrew dealing with a couple of big hangers in a beech over a road and a stone dead (armillaria) spruce I took down. And finally a nice old open grown oak I saw today while pricing, the paper is a4 for scale.

If that was the case I'd be better off letting him take the transit home, the only thing that puts me off that is that all the saws are in it usually. Its a shame you can't get a fiesta pickup tbh, that could take a bag of logs.

I am tempted but tbh this is a perk for andrew so the better the mpg the better, as i will be paying for the fuel.

Any recommendations for a small van, looking for something economical and reliable; berlingo, partner, combo, fiesta etc. Good points bad points?

looks like you're having a ball mate, when you compare what you are doing now to setting up on your own and all the hassle that goes with it you definately made the right choice.

one more tip which you probably know, with the transmission handbrake on that vehicle if you lift a wheel you have no brake, so remember to diff lock before winching. nice work BTW

The sandvic ones can be sharpened on the machine with a diamond disc on a wee grinder, the green teeth get three turns then the bin. I have seen both types on a 60 Hp carlton the sandvic ones do it for me, although both were impressive.

This was my best stunt fell, this tree was big, it fitted in with 2-3 foot to spare it took 3 days to clear up, no joke. The pics are a bit crap, the felling cut was a 36" bar on a 66 so you can see the stump was about 45", that was at about 4'up too because of the tight space. Im not saying how little money I had on it but it was embarassingly little, my best stunt fell but my worst pricing cock up. It was about 4 years ago.

have you thought about the sandvic wheel Simon? I have seen one going, its impressive.

I'm not sure what the rims are tbh, I did a deal with a local tyre dealer when I bought it, he took the OE rims and tyres in part exchange for these. The tyres are pirelli scorpion mud's, they have worn extremely well, 40k miles so far and still a bit to go. I am planning on getting another set of rims to rum all terains in the summer to save fuel.

You guys are definately right, with a job like yesterdays there's nothing you can really do except handball it, but 80% of the time there are tools that can help out, I am definately up for getting a fast tow trailer with crane for the landy and possibly a track barrow as well. If I had only climbed yesterday I'd be feeling fine now, instead I have sore legs and arms and bruises on the shoulders and neck from carrying stuff. Mind you I just remembered I did stack it with a big lump on my shoulder, that could have done the bruising.
