  1. Dave, your image as a no holds barred old school cutter is now lying in tatters. TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  2. One pik on video. My computer is knackered at the mo so the rest will have to wait. TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  3. 60 tonner, even though it weighs 44 tons?? Same one we had last time, very good driver. TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  4. I forgot to say well done, you are a propper tree surgeon now! BTW you are going to glenrothes tomorrow. Meet gareth at the McDonald's at newbridge roundabout. TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  5. Give it a whirl mate. It really is the way forward for the big trees. If you can get a crane near it of course. Welcome Andrew. I will post the vids when I get my pc fixed. TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  6. The hook swings around a bit when it is far from the sling, its very heavy and takes a while to stop moving,(it wasn't as bad as it looks in the pics) The blue line on the hook is 19mm rigging line, that allows us to use a spider for balancing the trickier bits. The spider is only rated to 300 kg so once on the big stuff we use the slings streight off the hook. We use short slings and steel krabs for all the branchwork, that way the climber gets the next sling/s on while the ground crew sort out the last bit. This is quick, although pretty relentless on the ground. Thanks for the comments. TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  7. The last pic was lifted up off the street, after we had filled the 2 wee trailers we made a pile of timber so we could put the big lumps in the big trailer first. We reslung and lifted them in at the end. Andrew has some pics as well, maybe he will break his arbtalk silence and post them??? TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  8. A few more... TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  9. Took down a big beech with a crane today. Andrew did the climbing, all the timber went to a local firewood guy, who supplied 2 trailers. We filled my 10 x 5 and another on the wee massey as well as a big grain trailer. 2nd last pik was 2.4 ton last was 3. TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  10. Villager are more of an open fire in a box than an actual stove. We have an aarrow boiler stove, its been pretty good but it does annoy me that if you allow the ash to build up a bit,( as you should for wood) it falls out when you open the door. Can't fault it otherwise. TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  11. I have used a bobcat 325 a fair bit, impressive machine, better than the equivalent jcb. Kubota engine too. TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  12. There is a massive difference between a self employed and on the books groundie. With all your ppe paid for, and paid holidays, sick leave, and a regular reliable wage you can afford to work for less. £150 a day is 40k a year! I'd have to double my prices to pay 2 guys that much. TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  13. Is it like the butter story? TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  14. deffo michorrhisal Dean. the fungi brealing down detritus in the soil releasing soluable nitrogen / nutrients which the grass can absorb. I have seen similar around "fairy rings".
  15. That's what's always put me off the TW, the bearings and flywheels look really light. TD Tree & Land Services Ltd.
  16. last year in that cold snap around christmas time I had to take a blowtorch to the fuel lines on the chipper, it started fine after that.
  17. Follow the strap from the bow shackle to wher it dissapears under the waist belt, tighten the strap to put more weight on the leg loops and loosen it to put more on the waist. play around with is and see what feels best. Do you wear the waist belt on or above your hips?
  18. If you have a harness with the adjustable link between the loops and the bridge you can set it up so they don't ride up, I can on my treeflex but it slowly slips so that after a while it needs adjusting again.
  19. I tried one with a wafer thin bar and a micro chain on it, like a pole pruner the other day, very impressive, cuts fast!
  20. I haven't used the other two, but I have been amazed at the longevity of tachyon, seriously hard wearing. well worth the money IME
  21. I think there has been some confusion here.... FTA Online | Operator licensing rules and regulations at fta.co.uk
  22. Thanks for the replies, I use a soft core wire flip so maybe it will be ok, I'll just have to try it.
  23. one end has a fat crimped metal stop, not an eye, about 20mm thick, reckon it would go through?
  24. Is it possible to dissasemble to fit onto a flipline with spliced ends?
  25. I am still likeing my smock, Waterproof Field Smock - Country Covers just wear a t shirt underneath when climbing, not too hot not too cold... quality stuff.
