  1. Well i must say i am suprised at the lack of people think that this is not worth talking about, one reason i say this as most of the innovation that happens comes from the tree climbing comps. For the few peolple that have voted on the poll and not put your view acroos is a shame
  2. Cheers for the feedback Tony. Yes i would say that facilities are the important things at comps, hot showers, toilets, and there would be free camping too an food. I even might chuck myself at bar stools again just for you?
  3. Yes information is they key!! This year and in the past i feel it could have been handled better, but thats the past and the future is in front of us all. Having said that, We now have the Arb forums Facebook and email and telephones too in this modern era we all live in. so we can only hope for better communications.
  4. Thats the spirit, hope to see you there and put some faces to names. Cheers Stuart
  5. When someone votes on the poll could i ask if you could give some feed back also. It would be good to see why someone would feel happy to pay the amount which they have voted for. Cheers stuart
  6. Not sure why the poll has closed but, i'm sure steve would like to help me out on this one. Steve when you read this can you edit the closing date till the week before the comp. Thank you
  7. Ok so here goes, As this year seems to of taken a sudden nose dive in the numbers of people taking part in the events, i was want to hear peoples views on what would interest them in taking part at an event after all you have to pay to enter!! All i ask is for you opinion on what you'd expect after parting palm's with silver. Just to get the ball rolling how much would you pay for a just one big 3day event. and the top three would go to the ETCC and the first would also gain entry to the ITCC Don't forget if you were likely to get get good prizes and free goodie bags per entrant with something of use not just any old crap, camping and a pasta party night with the possibility of live band. and even a a free workshop on tree climbing techniques, and a unique keep sake for that event.
  8. Thanks for the replies so far. I always wonder why people don't want to compete at these comps. its fun and great to meet people and share ideas.
  9. The venue was going to cost £500 as i understand.
  10. For people that may think that not attending and not a chance mean then same thing, in this case they dont. not attending- people that usually go! not a chance- not in a hope in hell. please give your feed back on why you might not go or dont even want too.
  11. The comp 4th and 5th September 2010 Waunfawr Park Caerphilly South Wales. UK&I Championship 2010 - UK&I TCC 2010 :: Events :: ISA UK&I Chapter Whos going or considering it. Many thanks stuart
  12. Does that mean you want to battle it out with rupert this year!!!!! Battle of the Titans's
  13. Wow someone spread rumour about the tcc's being cancelled, thats not good at all.
  14. Sorry jarnii didn't see the end of your post! The climbing line is good just not as good as the CE Climb tachyon, but yes it's not as demanding on your hands great for when you have lots of small 20mtr tree that you go up and down all day.
  15. You hold the tail end of your rope in your other hand you operate the hitch!! Hope this helps
  16. Here is the pic on my rope i have been using lately. hope it helps
  17. the green and black one i know of is the sirius, which is a real nice all-round hitch cord, great for your lanyard. OP is a great hitch cord that will last for awhile but when it start to go it goes quick.
  18. Armour-Prus goes flat after a while which has an huge effect on any hitch. but still worth a try i say? Its always the same thing we all want nice fast smooth hitch but they are alway going to go tight after all thats there design. i use 4wraps- 3 x-over but i just tie what i feels best every climbing line is constructed differently and that will also play a part in it.
  19. It is not really that important to have the stitched eyes but it is tidy and you don't have to adjust your hitch as the termination knots snug up tight!! Sure the heat is going to your climbing line, but if you on the heavy side and using a friction saver with pulley then your going to have a little issue with it heating things up. if you use a standard friction saver with just the alloy or steel rings then that will save your hitch and rope a little bit anyway OP will last me at least 3-6months!!
  20. I have used the 8mm OP now for about 2yrs never had a problem with it myself but sure it can slip but it all depends on how you tie the hitch. even the 10mm OP works well on the 11-13mm climbing lines. if you really can get on with it i would suggest to buy it per mtr then you can make the smaller adjustments yourself and then if you want the stitched eye to eye version then they come in an assortment of lengths. hope this helps
  21. Wayne go for the airstreams!! they get my vote...
  22. A great new looking website with allot of info that people can find useful. Tree Work ? Health and safety at work
  23. Thought it was a really cool thing to see, i spoke to him later that night after his demo, and its no wind up. A truly great bloke. it goes to show how little climbing gear you really need just a bit of manilla rope and a couple of sticks. cant wait to use it at work to see how well it works.
  24. cheers peter, are you and rupe going to Guildford comp. if so i'll see you there. Are you going to the trade show. Yeah late night maybe the key. but i have the new CE Climb different rope to climb on as i usually climb on blaze with the hitch climber and Ocean poly, but all round it is very very nice rope to climb with.
