  1. With a skid steer you are limited to where you can use it, with a loader your not. I personally rate Multione.
  2. I personally think the level of injuries and deaths within the industry are quite low given the number of "Tree Surgeons" there are that have not got a clue. Its riddled with them. The figures should be much higher.
  3. Would you not say that good Fitness and mental aptitude where critical criteria? Its not taboo, it will come up
  4. All that happens if you safe guard against everything is open the door to people coming into the industry who shouldn't be in the industry. Like Tim says, "In fact there's many people now in treework who are simply not physically or mentally capable of the job." I think many bosses are responsible this, instead of growing a backbone and telling some employees that they are not and never will be suited to tree work and should get another job before they kill themselves at the bosses expense. Training centres should do the same. Among the Job interview questions should be: Can you tie you own shoe laces without your mum helping? Have you ever used a spanner? Have you ever been without your phone for a day? Do you text talk ? Would you ever call a customer "mate" or "love" ? Can you do more than one thing at once ? etc etc
  5. It is a Linisher, it weighs about 150kg bought it about 15 years ago and use it almost daily.
  6. I,m finding it hard to turn the picture never mind anvil
  7. Looked at two chippers recently that weren't chipping very well despite new blades. As the title says, don't forget to check, sharpen or change your anvils chaps, they are just as important to keep a sharp square edge as it is to keep your blades sharp. If you are getting stringy bits in the chip it is most likely anvil gap or rounded edge on the anvil. Anvils are among the most neglected chipper parts.
  8. Email received today: I've recently chopped down a few very large conifer trees in my garden meaning I have a lot of excess wood, is this something your company would buy? If not do you know If any other company etc... that does? Many thanks How much should I offer
  9. I've heard that drystone walling is really good money in Norway
  10. Just ring a local tree surgeon and ask a favour
  11. I went with my mate to buy a mog off them around 30 years ago now
  12. Sorry Steve, never saw this mate...better late than never :big grin: [ame] [/ame]
  13. For those of you that hate chainsaw trousers. Or even those that like to wear Thierry please round the shows, you can now wear them to go out in too!! https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1059714797397979&id=288148511221282
  14. I told them I would go through the ombudsman as I thought they were wrong. The ombudsman costs them around £250 whichever way it goes. They have obviously reviewed the claim and read their own small print
  15. Unfortunately that's how it is going to have to be from now on. I have a " free help yourself" sign on.my chip pile. I'm now going to have to get another sign saying "no sniffing the Wood chip please"
  16. Just had a woman on the phone saying its dangerous to put Laurel Chip on my chip pile and allow people to take it. It should be removed and the area treated with vinegar. "Her friend could have died" and "all her greenhouse plants have died with it." Apparently her friend picked some up from my chip pile and transported it in her car from Huddersfield to York, a good hour trip. Then this woman put some in her greenhouse and all her flowers are dying. She was on the phone ranting about how dangerous the stuff is and its irresponsible of me to let people take it. I tried to explain things to her but she was a google expert and slammed the phone down on me when I suggested thats what she was..
  17. Insurance rang me back this week and told me I was mis-advised. I do have cover on my house insurance for my business tools so are now going to pay out.
  18. I'm coming off it again, if it has the same result, I'm staying off it
  19. Apparently I,m not Coeliac..... I had the test because I had a period when I cut out Gluten completely. Within a few days I started feeling totally different, bowel habits totally changed for the good, bloating stopped. Then after about a week I felt physically better and mentally better, more energy the lot. I then fell of the wagon and things have slipped back to how they were. I can't understand why it has such a dramatic effect if I,m not Coeliac ??
  20. Well done Dan, there's some hours gone into that I bet.
  21. Spot on. I have given up insuring small equipment like saws on my commercial policy. The cost was too high considering I had never claimed. You must also bear in mind I am a one man band with one employee with lots of big equipment that also needs insuring. I was paying out more in insurances than anything else. It got ridiculous.
  22. I haven,t had a tool theft claim in 30 years, I,ve put into the pot so other people can commit fraud.
