  1. Yep - pretty much like all the statistics then. We have no true idea of the true facts about this illness - that much is clear! What seems an underlying fact is that it is not dangerous to most of the population. So then why are all the population locked down? [I have heard the nonsense reasons for this - they must be nonsense as otherwise why is the lock down being lifted now?? It goes against the original reasons for the lockdown. If the lockdown was to stop the massive surge of cases on the NHS - then in theory it needs to be kept in place until the 'vaccine']
  2. I don't disbelieve that - it's possible isn't it? What if that were true?
  3. Very hard to get facts but from what I gather testing is not accurate. So if testing is not accurate then does it matter if there is testing in place or not? The original doctor who was ill and died with it - even though displaying symtoms for days [again who knows about the authenticity of anything read online: After several negative tests, on 30 January he was finally confirmed as one of thousands of coronavirus patients, he said on a social media post, along with an emoji of a dog with its eyes rolled back and tongue hanging out, the BBC reported. “Today nucleic acid testing came back with a positive result, the dust has settled. Finally diagnosed.”
  4. Have you done much research on this? I have done a bit... [around 2-3 hours]. 1) They don't know the numbers of how many were killed with any accuracy 2) the first wave was not that fatal [1-2% mortality] the second was like a different illness altogether and killed very fast with a mortality of around 20%. So I thought about that - the second wave gave a much higher mortality rate with very different symptoms. Hmmmm - maybe the second wave was a completely different illness to the first! Also this was at a time where troops were packed on ships and sent to all sorts of places around the world which was the main source of spread. If we get something like this second wave - we are pretty screwed. But since 1918 we haven't much worried about it... it's always been a threat yet we have have managed to live with this threat since 1918. COVID is nothing like what this illness named Spanish Flu [but the illness that killed millions was nothing like the flu so not a great name for it].
  5. Cheers - we do offer budget options but if feedback is it's cheap and crap we discontinue it.
  6. There is so much red tape and paperwork so that you can legally store card details. If you do it you need to have all sorts of systems in place for how you take them/how they are stored/who has access to them/security measures/process should card details be stolen/how long before they are destroyed - the list goes on... This is why a company like Paypal has done so well as they simplify the process of at least standard taking payments.
  7. I read the above twice and think I have what you are saying but excuse me if I have misinterpreted it. I don't think ignoring guidelines is about being selfish or being superior - I can say now here in writing I have not abided by the guidelines myself and will continue not to do so. Not to the letter anyway. I will respect others by maintaining social distancing if they wish and I will self isolate if I am ill as well as good hand washing practices. But I've been out for hours at a time during the whole lock down with my family and usually twice a day. We are fortunate enough not to live in a city - maybe my attitude would be different if we did live in a town or a city but the plain fact is - we don't. This could change human society for ever - but only if we allow it to.
  8. There could well be worse to come - but it makes more sense to me to focus on encouraging people to get healthier - more exercise, less stress, better food, better family life, better community. How much £ is spent in this direction? Since lockdown how much more are you drinking? I'm up around 30-40% on my pre lockdown intake...
  9. Yep - even to take card payments is hard.... but to store card details and then get that to work well with your website is a lot of work and more fees. Hence when you buy off most websites unless they are a good sized company ie. I dunno I'd say around £10 million a year + you will always put in card details. I'm not saying it's impossible - but it requires outlay and a lot of form filling as well as higher processing fees to do it. Plus you need to have it securely and smoothly integrated into your site. Yep it could be a case for the Competition and Markets Authority - but who has time and energy to do this...
  10. Thanks - hold onto your £ for now as we may do a 48 hour flash sale [one off before the dealers are selling these]. It'll be as a thread on arbtalk in the next 7-10 days.
  11. Yep - we may go back on there but with say only a dozen listings and plenty of indirect advertising to the website. But at the moment we are off it - hopefully business will stay busy enough where we never have to.
  12. Ebay and Amazon make the buying process simple - legally it is very very hard for a small business to store peoples information and card details - as in you would not believe the red tape around it. Hence we have to make people put in their card details each time. Paypal is a little better I suppose.. Ebay and Amazon are one click and buy - and it shows the power in this as all our stuff on ebay was 10% more than our website. People will pay more for convenience and ease of purchase - and that's what ebay and Amazon offer.
  13. I really agree with this fellow - and I could not have put it half so well... This sort of attitude and ability to communicate really does make me proud to be born in and be a part of this country. All the more authentic coming from someone who is technically in a vulnerable group.
  14. We are pulling our items off the ebay shop - it has become too painful working on ebay these days... Everything is bent towards the customer with little protection for sellers. It's a great platform if you have high volume large margin goods that you can punt out but it is hard work to list the stuff we have to sell. x2 recent negatives from buyers and it's x2 last nails in the ebay coffin! May go back to listing some items in the future but we also want to bring more stock control onto the website which is not possible if you have the same items on ebay.
  15. Nope I mean braver - going out and standing up for what you believe in [yes I appreciate not all the people protesting will have motives as pure as this] is brave.
  16. Also instead of little signs and hand clapping - how about giving the NHS something more meaningful like a pay rise, less admin and better working conditions? Regardless of COVID or not... This whole thing looks to be all about control - get the population used to the idea that they can be locked down. We'll have to see if this becomes a more regular thing. Also what about all the stopped operations/depression/mental illness/domestic abuse/loss of income/loss of businesses? There are very nice smart figures on COVID all neat and tidy on the worldometer - it will be harder to measure the downside of this lock down so neatly. Part of me thinks I should be out there protesting about it but mostly I wouldn't cause I'm as equally cowed as everyone else is. Odd how the protesters seem to be ridiculed on here - they are braver than I am.
  17. Lockdown has never made sense to me - and it makes even less sense now to lift it. The tests from what I gather can give both false negatives and false positives. There seems questions marks over how the death rate is calculated. From people I know who have had to go into hospital there was hardly anyone there. So the lock down is now lifted and it will be ok for us all to spread it freely and easily? Or maybe it was never that serious in the first place. Nursery for my daughter is closing for good with a lot of the staff there having been there 12 years or more... I think even if going by the guidelines set out for our 'safety' we should question what we are being told - I certainly do and then some.
  18. Deleted - probably not appropriate..
  19. I think that the 3002 and 3001 are often now combined in the 3002 mount [don't quote me on that] ie. the 3002 mount is also the 3001 mount. Like the GB HS bars are combined 3001 and 3002 mount and you can fit to mid sized Stihl saws.
  20. Ouch - that there looks like a .404 chain sitting uncomfortably on a 3/8 drive rim - really hoping you have not run this yet as because the two things are not compatible - the rim will burr the chain and the chain will tear the bar and the whole thing will quickly heat up.. You MUST change that rim to a .404 rim 22270 Oregon .404 Rim 7-7 tooth WWW.CHAINSAWBARS.CO.UK 22270 Oregon .404 Rim 7-7 tooth Doesn't have to be bought from us... And by the way - I did and still do make mistakes like the above when I know better! So no shame in learning... can I use the above pic in my vids [no names mentioned?]
  21. Yep and I think that's fair enough - you pays your money takes your chances. It's up to folks how they do things... it's the painful few who feel that if something breaks it is never them and they don't want to pay for it. Using a knackered rim on a new bar will wreck it though - I've seen x4 I think the last month where the bar has no lasted long at all. One I couldn't figure out what had happened - the chain looked peened and drive bar had a chuck out of it but the sprocket was new... but other x3 were all down to worn drive sprockets or using an old chain on a new bar.
  22. Prob slightly different for Steve - but for us if people want to wreck their gear [and yes a lot of the time you get away with it or you think you are getting away with it]. But when you don't it's very rare [very very rare] that the user says 'yep I've ruined this and I need another' what we get is 'I never had this hassle with Stihl bars - what's the warranty?!
  23. Yep that would be perfectly reasonable - but it just doesn't work in practice. After 12 years in retail I've realised - if the customer makes a mistake then it's up to you to sort it out, if you make a mistake it's up to you to sort it out.. Just the way it is!
  24. I can't say 100% this has caused the issue - I can say that it is pretty likely..
