  2. Anyone going to the Tree Hazard Evaluation Seminar at Barchams on the 31st March and 1st. April? I'm making the effort so will be there on the 31st.
  3. That’s some excellent buttressing on the old stump. Was the tree in an exposed location Hannah?
  4. The winning shots will be picked by the Arbtalk Arts and Culture committee on the 30th April. :001_tongue:
  5. Same here, it hasn’t even got any branches on!
  6. It’s one of those harness extenders for really really fat people isn’t it?? I guess the pulley is for winching that huge sandwich box up to the very first branch junction…
  7. Thats a cool hair-cut.....he looks like me!
  8. Did the groundie who footed the ladder at 8:41 do that instinctively? If he did he’s a top man and deserves a pint! It’s the little things like that that make a top team.
  9. Thankyou kind sir, just after that was taken it toppled over...could have squashed the little fella..lol
  10. Alice climbed up our Walnut today, she was so proud bless her!

  12. Glad to see I'll have a companion - least we should make a bit of £££ on the plane tickets back, (it’ll be only you and I, the others will be bird-food!) No Caterham yet – Still one more year of saving. It was drummed into me at a young age – ‘If you aint got it, don’t spend it!’
  13. Yeh, count me in! I’m up for doing it - lets do it blindfolded with one arm tied behind our backs... Are you crazy!!!??? Wild horses wouldn’t get me up there. No way!!
  14. Ditto, do please tell (although I know you wont)
  15. I wont put an example of Photoshop on here as it’ll be counted as an entry. This is an example of the black art….I was only messing, but it fooled some people. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=5375&page=2
  16. Two posts in and your calling this thread daft…!? Personally I think its an excellent thread. Any exchange of techniques, working methods and ideas must be praised and encouraged.
  17. No, I mean I dont want to think about thinking about having an accident.
  18. If I thought Like that I wouldn't be in this industry.
  19. If this makes no-sense at all its because I’ve just come home from the pub…. When I’m climbing I’ll put my rope up as high as I possible can as usual. I’ll probably come down a little and then put my other end of the rope up over another anchor point, (using poles) Tie a bowline in the end and re-attach using a prusik loop into my harness. My climbing instructor called it ‘triangulating’. Its very stable, feels secure and allows you to get into a good working position. Also has the added advantage of dispersing your load over two anchors, thus reducing the chance of failure. Basic stuff I know, but does that make sense?
  20. I’d never be so bold to advise what size branch to attach you life-line to. If in doubt, use both ends of your life-line or your strop (or both). Actually its best practice to use both ends anyway, regardless of branch strength or species. Get into the habit of stropping off whenever cutting too.
