  1. I'm off down the local in a bit, I'll post a picture answer later tonight.
  2. Top climbers don’t have to rely on spikes.
  3. Not a DB9 Tony. I didn’t notice the heart-wood at the time. Its been logged up ready for the farmers wood stove. I suppose I could go back and get some...
  4. One of the farmers round here has got a GT40, but not this one.
  5. I've got a week off this week, which means a little time to make some pocket money. A couple of little jobs for a local farmer... Aspen by the dog kennel - Take down to ground level. Silver birch - 30% (ish) crown reduction. Both trees all done with a Silky (except for the felling & logging of the Aspen) I was two-thirds the way through the Birch when the farmers wife came out and said 'actually John, I'd prefer if you look it out completely'. There was no-chuffing way I was going to take it down after fiddling around with Silky, so its staying for now.... I was working on my own with no grounds-man, so if the Birch looks odd - that’s why. (there was no-way I was going back up, too much MEWP work I guess!) I’m terrible on pricing private work and suggestions would be gratefully received. (All brash stacked and left on site) ....and if you can guess what the farmer had is his garage, I'll buy you drinks all day at the AA show!
  6. I love multi-stemmed silver Birch – Smashing trees and I bet they cosy a few £££’s. Nice to see proper sized planting pits too!
  7. I’d better post the answer now otherwise this thread is going to get in a mess……
  8. OMG!! Big Photos……and I have a double!!
  9. Beech tree, Blenheim Palace - No picnic benches but a lovely well kept lawn!
  10. Yes buddy, little Josh loved it! It takes you to a nice Yew maize, butterfly farm and an adventure playground. Spotted a horrendous looking Beech with Ustulina while I was there. Did my duty and informed the head-gardener of the nasty little blighter...
  11. Took the children to Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire today. It’s an excellent place for any Arb to take their family. Some very interesting trees for us all to wonder off and take pictures of - Highly recommended! The first pic was taken around 1900. Amazing how things can change.....
  12. I've been out and about today, so.......Name those trees.
  13. Ouch that hurts Steve – Why don’t you stick a 0200 in me back, Ouch Ouch Ouch!
  14. ….i.e. if the tree has no target leave the poor thing alone.
  15. Thats a shame Hanna. A crown reduction and a 'Do Not Feed The Ducks' sign would have done the job, lol
  16. Mate, my place is already reserved.
  17. Looks to me like David’s brain just couldn’t squeeze into that tiny space it used to call home. He was up that Beech looking for the elusive fungi called ‘Quorn’, nodded off and the surplus fungi-orientated part of his brain decided to take up residence in that Beech tree.
  18. Well done Hanna, told you it was easy – they’ll be no stopping you now! It’s a lovely tree, not much of a target - so lets hope it stays. I found the worst case of ustulina I’ve ever seen a few weeks ago (at the Mug-house, which is a pub where the ‘Midlanders’ group were going to meet) Turns out I’m responsible for the tree as its within a closed church-yard. Looking forward to that job!!
  19. .The crystal something or other??
