  1. Cheers Tony, Of course I don’t mind – knock yourself out brother! That pic was taken on a difficult corner as the cars and bikes are de-accelerating from 100mph + to about 30mph so motion blur is hard to achieve. I’d like to go down the 2.8 route but finding it an expensive pill to swallow! Thanks for the input..
  2. Will-do! I was forwarded onto a local office and was told they will call back with a price. I’m competing against 3 other companies on this one so don’t hold-out much hope to be honest.
  3. I love them David, sadly don’t have a single one in our little city. (nice pics as well)
  4. Thanks for the feed-back, much’O appreciated! Those pictures were taken with my new D700 but with an old DX formatted lens, I’ll be buying a new ‘full-frame’ lens suitable for the camera shortly. I changed the point of focus purposely so that the camera fixes on one point of each car, throwing the rest out of focus and so creating the illusion of speed and movement. I’ll stop messing around at the next meeting and go back to the old-school of getting the whole car in focus but still panning with a slow shutter-speed. Thanks again, John.
  5. Cheers !
  6. Thanks for the info, but this is for a highways job plus there are a lot of doctors, dentists etc working in the large houses on this road; so i'll have to be done a little more official. .....any more takers??
  7. I’ve got a job coming up to pollard 29 lapsed plane trees, two of which have 30+ lines running through them (too many just to cut through!) Does anyone know of a national number I can call to get an estimate on taking the little buggers down??
  8. Dude I bought a new Nikon 14-24 lens the other week - Not cheap!
  9. Alex – I’d say your girlfriend IS a photographer – stunning pictures !! I have a Fliker account, although it’s just a few basic pages – most of it is duplicated on the web-site anyways.
  10. Cheers Tom, guess what?? Turned up to the first meeting of the season and for the 1st. time ever there was a guy set up in the paddock selling prints to the drivers for £10 a shot!! To be honest I wasn’t that bothered, as I get more fun taking them than I’d ever do selling them (however I haven’t sold any so maybe I’ll revise that statement sometime) lol.
  11. Mozza, Bart & Frank – Cheers Guys! Hamadryad – Good point (one which to be honest didn’t occur to me), cheers!
  12. Yes mate, well spotted – used a 14-24, taken at 18mm at F/6.3 – 1/160 sec.
  13. Firstly, apologies for the lack of posting recently – I’ve been out and about with the camera recently and have been neglecting the beloved forum. Can I ask you to have a look at these few pictures, if you like them that’s great, if you don’t or see a technical fault please feel free to comment. (I’d much rather share these with fellow colleagues and friends than stuffy photographers on a related forum) You’ll notice that many of them seem to be out of focus – that was intentional as its very easy to take a picture using a high shutter speed and ‘freeze the action’, I’ve tried to capture the speed and the atmosphere of the hill-climb. Sorry for the lack of tree/arb material Steve, hope you don’t mind.
  14. I have just two links on my site Steve, one of them is for Arbtalk.
  15. Same tree, different sunset.
  16. Happy Birthday Mate - Have a great day, err.....splitting logs!
  17. Many congratulations to you both!!
  18. Nice find Steve, I'd be sharpening my '66 right now if I were you..
  19. Perhaps one of the mods could add ‘2009’ to the thread title for those who may be confused and not realise that this thread is a year old. Come on Paul – 264 posts and its still only April (your show is popular but not THAT popular)!
  20. That'll mean i wont win though lol
  21. Don’t be daft mate, that’s a quality shot! I just wish I lived by the coast, or at least a large body of water – all I’ve got round here are dry-stone walls and puddles after the car’s washed.
  22. Ditto!
  23. I think I’ve just taken my favourite picture – titled ‘A Spring Sunset’.
  24. If its critical to purchase a chipper with a towing weight of 750kg then go for it, if its not critical, then buy something bigger. Hope that helps.
  25. Just Prescott at the moment mate, today was the first time with the ‘Press Pass’ – had an absolutely fantastic time, it’s a different world once you get on the other side of the barriers, cant wait till the next one!
