  1. Cheers Mick, loving the new Avatar - is that you??
  2. Yes mate we do, bet we’re not about to get hit by a car in a cemetery.
  3. Cross section of the decay on one of the main-stems (which was 15feet from the ground)
  4. ...well that'll be a first! lol Close-up shot.....
  5. These were only snap-shots done with the old camera, the new kit stayed at home. If these cuts in public spending come our way I’ll be touring the country on my bike with a box brownie!
  6. Haha, nice-one! I'd love to offer a service!! Last one for tonight - This one's for David - name that FB...
  7. I’ve got to put this on the thread, from the Beech take-down today (one of my new favourite shots)
  8. Not yet frank, we only pulled off this afternoon. Climber was Matthew Padden (yet to be a member of arbtalk). I was ground crew together with Tom Murray (tommy_tentage). Both are ‘salt-of-the-earth’ guys and I’m stoked to have them on board!
  9. Cheers David, as for the decay – this baby has had Merip’ for a fair few years (longer than I should really mention) but I loath to take this type of tree down. Last year I did a little excavation (nothing fancy, just a spade and a combi-spanner). Classic Merip’ decay was revealed (top side of the roots looked fine, underside buggered beyond belief). Given the many targets under the tree and the frequency the paths are used (children are buried in a section close-by), I’m afraid there was just the one prognosis.
  10. Sorry for not ‘manning the thread’ – been down the pub for a sneaky few! A few more pics….
  11. Two days (we had to stop work twice to allow burials to take place). Got to clear up the core-wood tomorrow.
  12. Meripilus mate, that and extensive decay in the mid-crown, will post some pics of that later.
  13. Thanks for the informative input, here are a few more…
  14. They are coming – taking soooooo long to up-load!
  15. Another Beech tree bites the dust…
  16. I’ve got a soft-spot for D.S.W’s mate, even went to college years ago to learn the fine art! The plan was to ‘wall in the summer and hedge-lay in the winter (used to day-dream about making a living in the Cotswolds – just me, a series three and a Labrador to keep me company. Get some pic’s, love to see it!
  17. Here are a few from tonight’s walk…. …Well I had to put them somewhere!
  18. Especially if you have 7 perverted dwarfs living next door
  19. Well done mate – I’m surprised you can turn a profit fencing as round my way I’m often astonished at how cheap they can do these kind of jobs.
