You did say "Agricultural vehicle" which I have given you the specs for, HGV's are slightly different but anything above 2.55m wide or (2.6m or 2.65m for refrigerated body’s) your into wide loads regs which don’t impose the same speeds for a given width as "Agricultural vehicles" given the higher level of driver licensing and regulation. As for ridged winged V plough they really are limited in use as they are dangerous if used in the around other road users, pedestrians or on raised road sections besides razed manhole covers or kerbing etc etc, they really are for opening single track roads with drifting in places. As for limits of width and speed abroad they do exist as dose the logic of you cannot send a wide snowplough down narrow roads with oncoming traffic or parked/stuck cars etc etc

Because snow blowers are for deep relatively fresh snow, snow cutters are for maintaining vertical sides to snow banks or for opening up very deep drifts in old snow, you then have cutter blowers which are a mix of the two types and geared cutting just on one side and for clearing swaths of snow from the edge of the road that is built up from snowplough passes. The thing they have in common is they all work at slow forward speed and are geared to hundreds and thousands of tonnes per hour at that slow speed or in essence short distances with high snow volumes (thus snow weight) per road meter. Angled snowploughs are geared for long distance and low snow volumes (thus snow weight) per road meter. e.g. one is for clearing 2000 tonnes of 1km of road to open it, the other is to clear 2000t off 40km to 60km of road and repeatedly pass over it all day about once every ~2h during snow fall (major roads – given you have to do both sides its ~1h each way) to keep the route open.
  3. both are right in their own way The maximum widths are <2.55m wide then >20mph >2.55m to <3.5m wide then <20mph maximum speed and if >3m wide then 24h police notification of movement or letter of dispensation from each police force’s wide loads officer (AILV officer) who’s district you operate is needed. >3.5m <4.3m wide then 12mph maximum speed with the same notifications/letter of dispensation etc as with >3m above, and the addition of attendants/escorts (>3.5m) >4.3m requires permission of the secretary of state for transport, >7 days notice to police etc etc etc. The practicality is though if working clearing roads for the council, if you have a 10ft plough (when angled will be less than <10ft) they wont put you on narrow roads, if you have an ~8.5ft plough they will put you on narrow roads or housing estates.
  4. It really depends on the nature of their demise and/or need for removal. All the trees on my property at the back of my house are TPO’ed, any tree I have removed in the main for convenience I have had to replant a new one, in cases where they are DDD or from lightning, landslip or other things I have not had to replant. Though this may be because I had to be most insistent with the latest TO that the trees did have a blanket TPO on them going back to the late 70’s which he later found after initially saying they didn’t.
  5. If you read your Unimog operators manual it goes into detail about the adding of petrol or better still kero to diesel to stop waxing/altering of CFPP. With summer DERV/red anything beneath ~ –5C you are into the waxing point, with winter fuels, anything below –13C for red diesel and –15C for DERV you are into waxing territory. Note that obviously mixing quantities of winter and summer fuels razes the temperature that waxing takes place. Most commercial vehicle places sell fuel additive/catalist to stop waxing which are added in much smaller quantities (<1L per ~500L of fuel) than petrol/kero, however it needs adding before waxing takes place where as petrol/kero can be added post waxing provided the tank is agitated and fuel is bleed threw it would be then ok. Also if you have a start pilot (hand pump and reservoir that fills like a gas cigarette lighter from a similar can) you can get the refills from most Merc mog/truck agents which aids cold starting much like easy-start but in a much more measured way, NOTE: if start-pilot etc is used you MUST NOT use hot-raging, a gas blowlamp or a electric heat-gun to heat engine intake air with large rubber pipe removed post air-filter.
  6. Perhaps you should mind your own business and if you like oak trees plant one in your own garden. Perhaps you could offer to let him park his pickup on your drive or grass to save any perceived tree damage if you feel so strongly.

Yes “pretty much all 2 stroke is the same” if you choose the absolute lowest spec which all will meet, however there are differing API, JASO & ISO specs so only the highest quality 2-stroke oils are able to meet ALL the highest specs, thus your statement of “pretty much all 2 stroke is the same” is grossly erroneous and factually WRONG!

If you go by the saw manufacture instructions then they all say along the same lines of use 50:1 (2%) of their own brand which they have control of formulation but if you use any other brand its 20:1 (5%) So you then end up referring back to the bottle of 3rd party 2-stroke oil for its specs to then decide if to use it at either 20:1 (5%) as per the saw manufactures instruction or use 50:1 (2%) contra to the saw manufactures instruction which in turn voids any warranty. I find Stihl 2 stroke oil works out cheaper than Morris 2 stroke oil when you consider the former comes in e.g. 5L cans wile the latter comes in 4L cans.
  9. The standard fully comp NFU agri tractor policy excludes the felling and haulage of “trees” other than if they came from your own land. Trees are NOT the same as processed “timber”, “woodchip” or “stumps” or any other processed item derived from a tree/s on other peoples land. A tree is a whole item which may or may not include the root ball. I also believe the “felling of trees” exclusion on other peoples land pertains to the winching or pulling over of trees with your tractor or your use of a chainsaw in felling on others land BUT not the normal use in forestry of your tractor on other people land doing skidding, forwarding etc. The above is the reply I got from my local NFU office when I asked about the definitions last year, however I may ask them for it in writing! Also remember how you answer how much contracting you do (based on how much of your companies total income % comes from contracting) affects the loading of the premium, noting that if all/most of your companies income comes from working for others in any way shape or form then that is “contracting” regardless if its agri related or not, so most arb companies will have to declare an appropriately high % of income derived from contracting.

  11. Don’t forget that there were reverse drive MB-Trac and later MB-Trac based WF-Trac. The trouble with front mounting mulches on conventional tractors is the risk ejected debris pose to the driver given the much-reduced angle between the hood openings and the seating position vs. rear mounting, you also have the problem you end up with a bulk of the weight on the smaller front wheels so they are more prone to sink.
  12. err not quite, if a pure dictionary search is done it comes to ~<30% of words, however most of them words are "scientific" and as such are seldom used by a vast majority of the population and only have a use in/by small select groups. if "scientific" words are ignored only ~6% of the English language is based on Latin. You will find NO academic writings that say English is based on Latin, as it is a Germanic language as has been stated a few times in this thread.

  14. wrong NOT "all" European languages, look up Germanic languages which make up a majority of north European languages excepting French, that’s German, Dutch, English, all the Scandinavian languages, you then have Celtic etc etc etc. You will find most of the world speaks a language that is NOT Latin based.

Its because gardeners etc etc want to sound intelligent and keep the information from the peasant classes thus retaining a hold over them, but there is little intelligence in using a dead language when significant parts of the world population don’t understand it. The sciences don’t have this problem any more (note medieval Latin), the standard language of being a pilot is English, many medical/science papers are disregarded unless they are now in English (note medieval Latin), there are significantly more English/Germanic words in Asian language than there is of Latin, most of the world population would be able to relatively quickly translate English into there native language vs. Latin, most of the world is exposed to English. You should remember the Latin used in botany etc is a mix of medieval Latin and ecclesiastical Latin used from about 400AD for scholarly pursuit ware as Germanic languages stretch back to >500BC long before the Romans got up here, Anglo Frisian, Primitive Saxon and North Germanic all went into making English along with some French and Latin, however if you don’t speak a word of French or Spanish and you listen to a conversation about the countryside and things within it you will understand very little, ware as if you listen to a similar conversation in Dutch from the Frisian area or Norwegian and even German you will understand much more of the conversation. As for myself I don’t give two hoots about Latin naming as I just wont use it, I had enough problems learning to spell and write English

  17. For glyphosate 360g/l 10% (1:10) (Deciduous species) 20% (1:5) (Coniferous species) is ok for spot spraying on stumps and coppice regrowth & either 1:2 or 1:1 for Weed wiper application. As for general spraying it will depend on the spray nozzle you use as to the concentration, e.g. if you wish to spray an effective e.g. 4L/ha with a 200L/ha nozzle you would use 40ml per 2L of water, if you were using a 100L/ha nozzle you would use 80ml per 2L of water and half the total amount of water to treat the same area at the same 4L/ha effective dose. So saying use xyz dose without enquiring as to what nozzle rate is being used is a bit silly, but then what do I know after all I don’t have any PA# qualifications! But as always refer to the instructions of your sprayer, nozzle and the herbicide.
  18. If it goes as agri the GVW/GTW is 24390kg on road #1 so if its ~16t empty your on road payload is just 8.39t #1 = If it goes as an agri machine anything other than a tractor its on road payload is 0kg. If it stays as a hgv it will have about ~10t payload + any trailer payload

  20. witnesses are known to be very unreliable things especially when ignorant of the facts. Also by the reaction in this thread it shows why a majority of people are NOT fit for jury service!
  21. that’s the old school method, have done it quite a few times on much bigger trees, however I don’t tend to cut the roots threw that close as it rather defeats the point of using the leverage to get them out as well! Bottle jacks under the bigger rear roots also help
  22. last week "children" will have spent hundreds of thousands if not multiple millions more hours collectively on “roads” than the total duration they will have spent actually under trees, ergo it is expected that more children would die on the roads than under trees and there to be an order of magnitude difference between the death figures for trees vs. roads, however that that dose not mean trees are safer because there are less deaths. When you drive down the road, walk down the pavement/verge you will pass under trees however the duration you will actually spend under trees will be many times less than the journey duration mostly. Again children will have definitely spent many millions more hours in the company of there parent or guardians in the “3 week” period you talk of than the time they spent under trees. if you want silly statistics, I would image that there were more people killed by trees last year than were killed by people in star wars imperial storm trooper outfits at conventions, so dose that make people in star wars imperial storm trooper outfits at conventions safer than trees or “normal” people you may meet randomly in any given year.
  23. What do you mean, there are extremely proficient at taking money by using “H&S” as a reason to justify there existence , then they aim there testing to the lowest common denominator so everyone passes even if some of the people they do pass are them selves a danger to others
