  1. Totally. Good analogy. I've been passing on some techniques and told him feed it slow and small bites until it gets more hungry!
  2. When my fire was installed they used fireboards in the cavity and said that I could use ordinary paint on them. I've never actually painted the boards because the colour is fine and I couldn't be bothered really! A thought came into my head that a reflective paint could be applied to radiate more heat into the room. Has anyone done this and if so, how effective is it? It's expensive stuff to buy so I thought I'd do a bit of research before going to the shop.
  3. Has anyone used it with 11.7 rope like Imori of Bluetongue? The best thing about the spiderjack for me is the ability for it to self tend. If the ZZ can do this equally well then I'm very interested.
  4. Most folk will just be getting back from work. I'm interested to get involved to a certain extent
  5. Hiya Paul, Could you go into more detail on what the reviewer criteria would be in term of experience and knowledge etc? I can't open the link - due to my computer
  6. I can achieve an overnight burn with just wood if I fill it up around 10-11pm and shut it down. Open up the vents around 6.30 am and get some small stuff back on it and away you go. Not bad for a smoke controlled fire with a door that doesn't seem to seal properly.
  7. As a condition I have to brief the other team members when I return. Does anyone know if taking video footage is permitted?
  8. Second that. Very interesting film. The original cape fear is also good.
  9. Thanks for all your replies. I'm going to work through them one by one this weekend.
  10. Looking for a place to have a nice break for a week. Thinking either Wales or Scotland. Does anyone know of a good place to hire that's not too isolated? The thought of chilling out in a log cabin is appealing now. Needs to sleep at least 3. Cheers
  11. Northern Branch: Tree Rigging Workshop - - Arboricultural Association
  12. Cuerden Valley Park, near Preston. Friday 11th october
  13. Who's going? Going to try to attend. Would be a good refresher/update and interesting.
  14. Glad it worked out for you Dave. I'm hoping mine is treatable somehow.
  15. Anyone else suffer from it? I've had the endoscope down so I know there is no ulcer in my stomach. They took samples to test for various things including helicobater pylori but waiting on the results. I've been on Omazeprole which seemed to help but had to come off it for the endoscope test. Went on to ranitidine as an alternative but that didn't seem as effective. I'm hoping to test positive for a bacterial infection so it can be treated and cleared. If not I'll be looking at pills or major diet change. Possibly herbal treatment as an other option. It's bloody awful!
  16. There's a British one called 'Grow Your Own' about an allotment community. It's a bit sad but feel good too. Dead Man's Shoes
  17. Sounds like a good course and very reasonable cost. Is there going to be any more like this?

I'm after a cheap pair of chainsaw pants. Front protection only and the type that have a plastic buckle on the waist and the back of each leg. They are the type you can throw on. For use on the ground only. Who sells them?
  19. Keeping the cinch oriented on the biner when slack is a good idea. Got a big leylandii job coming up in a couple of months. It might be good for that as I wouldn't have to keep dragging a strop around. Plus the fact that it's quite long so can have a couple of wraps on a branch for work position. Just got a ISC triple action snap today which is pretty easy to use. The whole thing seems to make a neat system. I'm putting a bit of red tape near the end of the line so I can stop taking out rope before it's all payed out.
  20. If you fell that, there is the chance that it will be just as high on it's side
  21. Yes, after fiddling about with it at ground level, you're right; the small loop is neither here nor there. It does seem to work great. The cinch takes a bit of getting used to if you haven't used one. I purposely put the sidewinder on upside-down so that the rope feeds out from the big hole at the top. Just need to get a snap ordered next.
  22. Mine landed today. was just playing with it and pulled all the cord through to see how the tail end was fixed inside. When I tried to let it go back in, it would only go so far until the reel was full, leaving a bit much slack hanging out! There's about half a meter hanging out now. It didn't come with any instructions. Is the plugged hole in case you prefer the lanyard on your right?
  23. Sounds like a great offer. Where can we sleep? Not that there'd be any after watching that infectious laughter vid!
  24. The pee up was good. It was in Hurst Green, near the grounds of Stonyhurst college. Cost next to nothing in the camping barn when there was a few of us. We could do a pee up and a PPE-up separately! Glad to see there's some interest.
