  1. Saw one of these at a stall in the apf but struggling to see them on suppliers websites. Any ideas on what search words I need to use? Can't recall the store I saw it at.
  2. Which version of treemotion did you get rob?
  3. Oh? I'd be interested to know how so
  4. Thanks for the responses. It looks like the quad might not be up to the job on some of our sites.
  5. Madeira is ace and I've been before. It would be torture for him though as he loves walking but like previously mentioned it's darn hilly! He can walk but is not to do anything over straining. Malta would be good apart from the state of their roads - enough to make anyone need surgery!
  6. Apart from the sewn eyed bridge and the plastic buckles, is there much difference in this harness to the previous models?
  7. Looking for a place in the sun for a week to take my Dad who's recovering from major surgery. Quite fancy the canaries because we've never been. I'd prefer a small family run hotel because you get a more authentic experience and hopefully the option of home cooking! It's just hard to find websites that advertise this kind of hotel and they often run on word of mouth. Thinking around November/December time... Any suggestions very welcome
  8. What really riles me about all our food outlets is that most products on the shelves contain palm oil from unsustainable sources. I read that China has the biggest demand for palm oil and has resulted in a major increase in clear felling of virgin forest. I think price is the prime motivator here, yet prices have increased year on year since the days we used other vegetable oils.
  9. We're interested in something like a Vahva Jussi 1500kg and Riki COT 1.5 I'm looking for any feedback at all really. We would probably be pulling with a hydrostatic compact tractor but we do have a quad as an option too. Obviously the power supply would depend on the type of vehicle pulling it. The sales rep for Riki told me that they do a battery option? Any advice appreciated
  10. Had a demo with the husky. Feels light and enough power but battery life isn't great. Apparently you can get an adapter for charging in vehicle. Used it on a dead ash dismantle and was handy for tip work. Like others say it's great not having a pull start. Had some issues when cutting a gob in a 4" branch. Kept stopping in the wood through lack of power or angle of saw held possibly. Other times it seemed to tear through happily. Also used it for de-feathering limes and battery lasted a satisfactory length on that. No issues with battery dropping but can see how it could happen. Not a replacement for a petrol but great for pruning etc. Nice having no fumes and less time to change battery than to refuel. Easy to forget oil though!
  11. Is there a timer on the saw clocking trigger time?
  12. Yeah I was thinking for pruning really. If they are comparable in weight then I think battery might be worth a try. I did read one review somewhere that their battery didn't last as long as expected.
  13. My tennis elbow is beginning to ease and I'm thinking a lighter saw might be good to prevent it from coming back. It's been a while from I have looked at saw reviews so looking for any recommendations. I like the idea of going battery power.
  14. A program on channel 4 now. Trees are getting the blame for all the problems on a house in Hull. It seems to be giving a one sided opinion on trees in relation to construction. You'll catch it on 4od
  15. I've been on herbal medication for a couple of weeks now and the going is good. I've got a prescription of meadowsweet to balance the stomach acid and slippery elm powder to strengthen the valve and stop acid leaking up. I haven't taken PPI's for over 3 weeks now. My digestion isn't normal per se but hopefully time will allow that to happen. I really didn't think there was any substitute for those tablets.
  16. Used mine a bit. I found that it can be a disadvantage. Picture this scenario. You do a leap of faith and hold on with one hand to the part of the tree you want to get to. With a normal strop, you can find it with your free hand then attach yourself. With the sidewinder it takes two hands (in my experience) to get the required length out. It stores away quite neatly but doesn't leave enough dangling out for a quick and easy strop in. I suppose you could open it up and take it off the coil a bit, but you might as well have a normal strop for that.
  17. I'm thinking roids now! Tried the arnica gel and the arnica cream the herbalist prescribed me. Tried acupuncture and physio, icing etc. Had a lot of rest and it just doesn't seem to be getting better.
  18. Mixed feelings on the injection as I've heard mixed things about it. For me it's last resort. If I can get the tendon to become less inflamed then I can work on gaining natural strength. The problem is that it's all time consuming. Not heard of horse oil and losing skin doesn't sound ideal!
  19. I went to a private physio and she said it was tennis elbow. I'm icing, stretching and strengthening according to her instructions. Also had ultrasound and she massaged the scar tissue away. Going for acupuncture this week too. No notable reduction in discomfort yet. Got an epi-clasp support ordered too but just using a tubular bandage support until it comes. Any tips on getting over this?
  20. Point taken regarding the pollution. We did it right and got DEFRA approved stoves fitted. That aside my bigger fire seems more efficient and seems to slow the flame more than my old man's. Interestingly he seems to get a better door seal than mine! I've noticed from even when it was new that there was a gap at the top of the door where you could see into the fire. I started a thread about this long ago. Anyhow, I can get an overnight burn with a few bits of birch or ash on mine - meanwhile I don't get the chance to enjoy it because I'm busy out processing wood for my Dad's little incinerator!
  21. Ah so there is a vent at the rear of the fire? Should I be able to just reach around and adjust it or would the fire need to be taken out? We had the supplier do the job lot.
  22. This fire has been like this from new to be honest. According to the brouchure the pioneer 400 it is clearviews most efficient fire. I can't understand why the flames don't slow down as much as the vision (unless they installed a non-DEFRA vision 500 by mistake)
  23. My Dad has a clearview 5kw stove. It seems to burn through the wood really fast because you can't close it down enough. My DEFRA approved 7kw vision 500 seems more efficient. Is there any way of fiddling with his so it can be controlled better?
  24. Excellent. In what form - tea or tincture? I sent an email in response to that radio4 show about ppi's. A kind lady sent me links to other listeners emails and there's some interesting points regarding alternatives. I can forward the emails to you if you like.
