  2. How did you make the transition Ross? I dare not come off the pills yet but I'm going to see a herbalist. Did you just go out and buy some slippery elm from holland and barrett or something?
  3. Ross - good link. Listened to this radio 4 progamme the other day about antacids/ PPIs. It confirms a lot of what I've been reading about reflux, but there was no mention of diet being a factor. Perhaps I'll write to them to try and get the question raised. You can either listen to the programme or read the transcript on this link: BBC Radio 4 - Inside Health, Care data, New gastric balloon, Vocal dysphonia, Antacids
  4. Whalley Abbey would be fantastic. If we did some minor pruning (silky stuff), they might be more inclined to let us in? Like a bit of deadwood over the paths or something like that while playing about.
  5. Just bought some coconut flour. Want to make pancakes for breakfast to bulk it up a bit. Was thinking of using almond milk in combo with eggs to make the batter but can't find a recipe for that
  6. Just got a pair of the forests so will update. Only got them because they were the same price as the protector pro's that I was about to replace. Tried on the haix extreme's too. They have a lower ankle and are extremely light, also a bit cheaper. Was tempted by them, thinking of the summer months but went for the forests as they had a deeper instep and I think they'll hold the spikes in better
  7. How many eggs are safe to eat per day? I got really hungry earlier and could only think of eggs to eat! I've just jumped on the bandwagon with this so I'm not really prepared.
  8. Unless I'm mistaken I think Gandy was offering you a lift to Thirsk if you could get yourself to Whalley. However, Whalley would be a good spot if anyone had some trees to play in near there?
  9. What's not paleo about fruit? And tomato ketchup is just tomatoes and a bit of sugar.
  10. What are good paleo snacks for inbetween meals? I have fresh coconut, but that gets really dry in your mouth and you need to wash it down. Fruit is another obvious one. Just had chicken with parsnip chips, steamed spring greens in with a bit of apple cider vinegar for dressing and a fried egg on top. Oh and a little bit of ketchup on the side.
  11. Ideally I'd like to gain a bit of weight. Can you do this with the paleo diet? I'm 5:9 and just a bit over 9 stone. Even when I was eating lots of everything I rarely got over 10 stone. Just my metabolism. I feel less bloated which is good but I don't want to shed any more weight. Is it safe to eat bacon and eggs for breakfast every day?
  12. Thanks wolfie! My mate might be back down there at some point so I'll take you up on that offer. He's a keen bow hunter and rifle shooter.
  13. Went clay pigeon shooting at High Harthay in the end. It's a nice spot and the coach was really knowledgable. I got over my fear of shotguns after getting knocked to the deck from kickback when I was a teen! The weather was brilliant too
  14. When you say issues have been less, is that with or without medication? I'm wondering if I'll notice the difference with being on omeprazole. I dare not come off it to find out!
  15. Cheers. They do all of those things at the place littlerob linked me to. Sounds ideal
  16. I've been looking a little bit into this to help with my acid reflux. Want to manage it without meds eventually
  17. I've never done any shooting, or hunting. My mate will have being a yank. We don't have guns.
  18. Cheers for the link littlerob. I've noted the contact details and will bell them tomorrow. I'm not sure what our plan is yet because it's all last minute and wouldn't want to mess you around.
  19. Hi. I'm going down to Huntingdon tomorrow to meet an old friend from the states who is here on business. We want to do a touristic activity like hunting or visiting a cool place. Can anyone from down that way recommend owt? Cheers
  20. That's quite reassuring then cheers. Some things just linger and you just have to get on with it the best you can I guess.
  21. I don't do one handing so it's certainly not from that
  22. Think I'll go private physio tomorrow and NHS route too. I've had problems with the arm in the past, particularly after a lot of chainsawing on the ground. This time there wasn't anything I could identify that did it. If I make a fist it is painful, as well as when I open my palm. Thanks for replies
  23. I've had a problem with pain in my right arm for at least a month now. I thought two weeks off doing nothing over Christmas would heal it but it's still pretty much the same. Does anyone recognise these symptoms. It hurts generally from my elbow down the top of my forearm. If I do something as simple as reaching for a pan on the stove it hurts. If I apply pressure like I'm pressing something down there's no problem. But if I exert upward pressure I get like a burning pain in the forearm up to the elbow. Doctor said it didn't seem like tennis elbow symptoms but gave me exercises for that. I've also got an anti-inflammatory cream to apply. Can't take ibuprofen because I'm on other stuff that conflicts with it
  24. I see. Some sheet metal would have been better than the fireboards I reckon, but not sure how I'd like the final look!
  25. Totally. Good analogy. I've been passing on some techniques and told him feed it slow and small bites until it gets more hungry!
