  1. Thanks mate, it will be sorted soon, but it will be very expensive
  2. Thats what I'm hoping mate!! Going to have a wastegate turbo fitted to take her up to 240 horse. So we should get to site earlier! and earn more money to pay for the repairs!
  3. My Dad is a joiner and in the 60's he was working on a big site building council houses. There was a huge shed with all the bathroom and kitchen fittings in it. In one corner of the shed was the brew room. They kept their tools in the brew room. One weekend the shed was emptied, all the fittings were stolen, but NONE of the lads tools were taken. How times have changed!!
  4. Thanks lads!! Your words of encouragement mean a lot!
  5. Head gasket went on my mog on Tuesday. Managed to get back to the yard, get the chipper and trailer off. Filled her up with water and set of to Alex Prices. Got about 7 miles down the road, stopped to put more water in, had to turn her off as it was blowing water out faster than I could put it in! Tried to restart her "BANG" hydraulicked!! Had to get an arctic to go to Alex's yard and pick up another mog then come down to us and drag mine onto the tailer. Once up there they took the head off and found No6 con rod bent so had to take the engine out Once out they found the borers were quite stepped. So now the engine is going for a rebuild:scared1: To make matters worse 2 years ago the rear toque tube went and when they changed it they could see that the splines on the rear diff were very worn, so they fitted a new tube and I thought it would last around 6-12 months. So I've been very much on borrowed time. As its going to have More power and to avoid more down time later, thats being done too. This is just what I need just before Xmas and with a recession just round the corner!!
  6. Is that what they are going to tell the Judge! If some one gets hurt or worse ? If that fails now YOU may find YOUR in court, as they have employed YOU to make it safe. If they won't see sense walk away and ring highways or the local council
  7. Is this that they "don't" to it day in day out and thats the problem? IMO, as you get older you MUST do it day in and day out if you want to keep doing it. I'm a big believer in the old saying "You don't stop doing things because you get old, you get old because you stop doing things!"
  8. When felling tall skinny trees with slight lean back, put in back cut first, insert felling bar, then cut gob!
  9. It can be done!! Its handy if you need to attract your groundies attention, you just flick the bit his way!!
  10. I'm 39 and still happiest when clambering around the canopy!
  11. To be honest, I don't think this is true, I think some people like the idea of being a climber, but don't "really" enjoy it and use their age as an "excuse" to give up. I know climbers that stopped climbing at 35 "because of their age" come on!!!!!!!!!!
  12. I think there is a great deal of variation in groundies, some are pretty much labourers that follow instructions from the climber, at the other end of the scale there are groundies that run the show and give the climber instructions. And their pay obviously differs accordingly.
  13. How old are you? £20 a day?!! Is that not illegal?? It should be!!!
  14. Would anyone object to me inviting my groundie Todd? He's not a member so I understand if people would rather I didn't. Some of you will know him from the first get together at Dean's.
  15. My dealer does not rate the 441, I have a 440 which is a great saw, but no longer available, so when it needs replacing I'll get a 446.
  16. Not surprised in the least, IME, and it saddens me to say it, the police are pretty much useless. I know of a guy who rang the police as his car was being vandalized, they told him they had no officers available, so he should stay inside and observe and take notes. He rang them back and said "I have a gun and I'm going out to sort it" Within minuets the police armed response unit were their, the Sargent said "You lied! You said you had a gun!" He said in reply " You said YOU had no officers!!!"
  17. I think your right Dean, if you want to plant a tree on your land, why not plant it where it can reach maturity within your land? Instead of forcing you neighbor to "share" the crown, or chop off their side and end up having to looking at a butchered silhouette,
  18. Do you not have a good Stihl dealer near you???
  19. You are joking???????? right:confused1:
  20. Their was a mill being developed near us, one Sunday tea time, some guys land with a truck and start loading a £50K excavator. The locals smell a rat and call the plod. They turn up speak to the guys with the truck, and watch them out onto the road and wave bye, bye. The worker arrive Monday, and ring the police to report the theft of their excavator!!! When it got into the local press the police would not release the names of the officers concerned and said it was just down to "human error"!!!!! Try putting that on the reply form for your speed camera ticket!!! Look after you own kit lads, the boy in blue will be more interested in how fast you have been towing your chipper than trying to get it back for you if it gets nicked, IME.
  21. Is your tree work so quiet Peter!! Well I suppose its best to do what you can to pay the bills
