  1. Yes!!!!!!! Best thing I ever did!! I used to have 4/5 staff/subbies. Now have 1 subbie. IMHO, if you do the climbing/felling yourself and have the best gear you can its far easer to make a decent living.
  2. What bhp was that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Spot on!! Staff are just hassle!, better to get good kit, IME.
  4. Are yours not suffering from "bleeding cancer" as apposed to leaf minor?? Down south they have both.
  5. Never have!! Never will!! You are leaving yourself wide open, if some Muppet comes into your work site and trips over a branch, they could sue you!!
  6. Its available with the rear handle,IE 192, but not 192T. So most parts are easy to get. But I wouldn't want one personally.
  7. Which you prefer a Landrover Discovery or a Freelander?? You get what you pay for, IME.
  8. Would be both mate, as it would start in the middle of the pile.
  9. Not kids, imo. Chip gets very, very hot! it ferments and will spontaneously com-bust.
  10. You need hundreds of tonnes of force!! It generates a great deal of heat so drying the chip would not be an issue, but the equipment is VERY expensive to buy and maintain.
  11. New radiator last year mate, so newish antifreeze. It did not loose water, so no topping up to dilute.
  12. Strange?? I've looked under my mog and I could not see one of these???
  13. It is a great tool , but comes at a cost As long as you make use of it, which I do!. And make sure you charge accordingly, then its a sound investment, IMHO.
  14. Selectable, arctic or crab. Very, very useful!!
  15. Factory built, one of only two of that model to be built, according to the factory.
  16. Its a 1997 214 bhp U1600 with fourwheel steer.
  17. Are you sat in a large leather swivel chair in front of your computer stroking a fluffy white cat?
  18. It had good quality antifreeze in it! The engine had overheated a couple of years ago, when the compressor belt snapped and took out the fan belt, this may have weakened the gasket?
  19. Bob, you make it sound like its just a case of getting assessed, you to fail to mention the £8,000 or £9,000 it costs. The AA also very conveniently fail to mention this to the public in their literature!! So the punter may think you could not fulfill the criteria, when its just that you don't wish to spend loads of money to just be told something you ALREADY know!!
  20. You have some great looking gear!! Is that your work shop?
  21. Using neat fuel in a saw CREATES the damage!!! I am going to try to explain, AGAIN, in very simple terms that trying to drive it to their work shop, did NOT incur additional damage. The engine was worn, from 5 years off hard labour!!, NOT caused by blown head or driving with blown head. The only damage caused by driving with the head blown was 1 bent con rod. The cost of recovery will be far more than the cost of a con rod so worth a try, in my book. My age if in my profile. You seem to have got all worked up over MY situation?? As for my experience or lack of it, of what business is it of yours? I'm just glad that this "BOY" has enough "experience" to have bought and paid for his mog, chipper, trailer, etc and have the money in the bank to cover the repairs.
  22. Sounds like communism to me! The workers do ALL the work and the organiser/government gets all the benefit/cash
  23. You brought up faulty climbing gear, not me. The bill is NOT the result of driving it with the head blow. Do you actually read ALL my posts? as you seem to be having real difficulty understanding the situation?? Do you really need to SHOUT ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
