  1. :scared1: What turnover?, if you don;t mind me asking? I pay £800 for PL of £5M, EL of £10M and £7K small tools cover, turnover of £100K.
  2. I have these off you Justin, they are great, but ware away very fast on tarmac, I am going to get some steel ones of you for tarmac and plastic for grass,
  3. In that situation I would also recommend that you put ratchet straps round the trunk to prevent the barbers chair.
  4. A rope is much cheaper to buy and maintain!!!
  5. Nice one Mike!! I've heard a similar cut referred to as a "dog tooth cut", but not seen it cut using a bore cut. Nice to one to know when for when we fear the risk of the barbers chair. Thanks for taking time to make the vid and post.
  6. This is just ONE of the reasons I do ALL my own cutting and climbing.
  7. The whole point of the Stig being unidentifiable, is so the driver can be changed as and when required! This is not and has never been ONE Stig. If they used an identifiable driver and he or she test drove the cars, when ever the driver changed, the car manufacturers would claim the new driver was not as good and thats why there car did not do as well as one driven by the previous driver.
  8. Only saw some of the TV show, not seen them all or the DVD.
  9. So true Rich!! You don't stop doing things because you get old, you get old BECAUSE you stop doing things!! When I had the bike shop, we had old guys who rode their bikes every where, they would could come in each year and get a rear sprocket one tooth bigger for their Sturmey Archer three speed (to lower the gears) they would catch a cold, be off their bikes for a week and die:sad: The cycling was keeping them alive, IMHO.
  10. Hehehe!!!! Very good!!!!
  11. Unless they are claiming its NOT wet wood, they have done nothing wrong. Theres no law to stop people selling wet wood, why would there be?? The punter can buy it in, dry it themselves and save some cash
  12. Well said!! The way I see it, show the customer how much MORE they will get from you! If your price is higher than the next guy, BUT you do a better job then they are getting more for their money! So in "real terms" yours is a lower price as its better value for money!
  13. I hear what your saying Dean, you need to be comparing like for like. If I ring round for insurance quotes, they MUST be for the same cover. Now where I disagree with you is on products why would you not go for the cheapest?? If I see to "identical" items and one is less money, why pay more?? If your taking into account the after sales service, then your back to service not product.
  14. Price is and alway will be a big part of winning work, thats life, we all ring round for the best insurance quote etc. The important thing is WHO they are comparing your quote against, if its other pro firms then that all fair in my book. I find many customers are looking for a professional job at the best price, we did an Oak removal the other week, they told me I was £100 more than the other quote, But they had been tipped off (not by me!) that the other guy was a Gypsy (their words not mine). I think I must be a bit too cheep as I win about 98% of all the work I quote, but I think if I quote higher, I will need to advertise more and spend more of my time quoting, so in real terms would I be any better off??
  15. Exactly!, if it was crap they wouldn't grow it!!!!
