  1. My insurers have never asked for any of those and I have had an employee claim and they still asked for none of them. The main reason I have the things you mention is because it a requirement of the H&S policy of many of the organizations for whom I work.
  2. There a many ways of showing an employee has had training, the NPTC is just ONE way. Last time I looked on the HSE list, chipper ticket wasn't even on the recommended list.
  3. You were rebuffing my comment about LAW, which referred directly to a quote that said ALL the NPTC units were a LEGAL requirement for the tasks they cover!!
  4. NPTC is ONE way of fulfilling your requirements as an employer, but their are others. I just really don't like the way people talk about NPTC as if its a chainsaw license. If your are self employed its a whole other story.
  5. No "company law" I know of What if you don't run a company?
  6. I would try them, but me and my groundie both listen to the radio while working, so not sure it would work.
  7. LEGALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????? Please tell me the LAW to which you are referring!!!
  8. Indeed. But surely you would use what ever ID has been used on the LOLER Cert on the daily sheet.
  9. I'll stick to my 020!! MUCH safer!!!
  10. Come on!! you just made that up!!
  11. My first chipper was a Entec (now TW) Chippit 25, 25 horse petrol engine, but with twin rollers. It was a great machine, had to do the flywheel bearings, but not a big job. We did some BIG jobs with that machine, M'way thinning, small site clearances and some very big trees.
  12. All looking good here!! Although I have no new smileys, I had the snail etc before:blink:
  13. I love all the snacks and beer and goodies!! I never moan about what our lass spends, I just love going to the fridge or cupboard and getting what ever i want. When we were married at first we were skint, I mean really skint, no phone, no TV, no holidays, no car, no carpets. I started as a groundie on £30 a day self employed, bought a 2CV6, I can remember all the other lads getting a bacon butty and I had £3 in my pocket, but that was my petrol money for the week, so I just ate a cheese sandwich out my lunch box on homemade bread. We spent £25 a week on shopping, at Xmas we had £50 , we did not know what to spend it on we kept putting stuff in the trolley then saying no! lets get this instead. Once I started climbing we could not believe what I was earning!!
  14. No!!no!!no!! I am much happier spending money on machines than on men. Most of my profit is made by doing jobs in less time with less men than my competitors. Machines are always in the yard on time and don't moan if we work late.
  15. Just put every thing on a memory stick Steve!!, Sorted!! I thought I was crap at computers, but look at me!! top advice!!
  16. You could tidy the containers and the yard if you like???
  17. I'd let you fill my saw, but don't you dare start it!! And as for moving the mog!! don't even think about it!!!
