  1. Thanks for taking the time to film and post!! (most excellent phone cam!!) I think thats a great thing!!, I don't think £1000 is a lot for all the possibility's it opens up.
  2. If I put one of those on the mog, I move it from up the tree!!
  3. Really, really great thread!!! Looked like a great job!! Shame if you did not get a decent draw from it Ed, was it just down to underestimating the time it took?? or other factors??
  4. Why is all the American gear so much better than ours??
  5. Cool!!! Could I have their number???
  6. IMO, some of you guys need to get better dealers!!! I buy a new 020 nearly every year, for two years in a row they ran crap from new. My dealer fitted new old model carbs to my saw, while I waited. I have had a new 020 over the last year and it have been fine, I think the problem as been sorted.
  7. Do your frown on this technique Bob?? I use it often, surely it gives you the best work position?? Great pic's David particular like the one where you can see the back cut opening
  8. I think wholesale you will only be looking at £1 to £1.20. I looked into it a while back, decided it wasn't worth doing. I would put a small add in the paper, £3.50 a bag, minimum order of 10 bags.
  9. Good stuff Steve!! It has been very glitchy of late.
  10. Yes you can get them. They a great for timber that is contaminated with soil or mud, IE after winching. BUT they are no good for steel contamination, nail's etc, as if you hit a nail it will simple remove all the tips, ruining a very expensive chain.
  11. Good man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. We were removing some dead Elms, they were on a very busy A road, so we had a road closure for 8pm Sunday till 5am Monday. We had done three the previous Sunday and had two left, I got there and the client said "bad news theres a wasp's nest in one of them". Any way, had a look and it looked as though they were going in through a hole under some moss, I took a pop bottle with some petrol up with me, I was going to pour fuel into the nest and set it alight. Done it before works a treat. Turned out there was no nest, they where just feeding on the sugary sap leaching from the bark, I got on and dismantled the tree they took no interest in me at all.
  13. I would recommend you change your dealer, I have never had any problems with warranty, if I have a problem my dealer fits the parts required and HE takes it up with Stihl.
  14. IMO, there really does need to be a retainer of some sort, for this to be worth while. If your expected to have sober staff available 24/7, you need some recompense. And as for the "you will not get £200 regardless of distance", I'm sorry but thats the VERY least I would expect, if it day time I would be leaving a job, if its night time I would be leaving my bed!!. But I guess I am not the kind of contractor they are after
  15. The Yew in the courtyard is a belter!!
  16. No, I was praising Mike and other experienced workers, ABOVE the training providers. The training has a place, but in my view it is only a starting point.
  17. As an old joiner told my dad, when he was serving his time, "there are 99 ways of doing something right, but only one way of doing it wrong"
  18. I did no such thing!!!!
  19. He is NOT!!!! Thats Qtip
  20. and there was me thinking it had been warmed by the sun!!!!
  21. I know nothing of your work, as you have not posted, pic's or vids. Is Mike a magician?? if you a are right how come it all went so well??
  22. At £8 a cube I don't think haulage would be a problem!!
  23. And fat lads can't climb!! But I've seen a few good ones!!!!!!!!!!
