  1. Fair enough. Please excuse my ignorance and explain to me how it would work please
  2. Yes, its always better to loose fairly
  3. Lets also remember that some Corbyn supporters got more than one vote Students 'openly boast of voting twice' for Labour sparks election rules review | Politics | News | Express.co.uk
  4. Just me and my son.
  5. In answer to your thread title…… not very well I almost never give people a date. Usually just a rough idea such as "sometime in August" and tell them I'll ring the night before to check the following day is convenient. I also tell them to feel free to chase me up if I don't ring them within the time frame I mention.
  6. Big snotty lump, thanks for taking the time
  7. OK, all joking aside, do people really think the result of the resent election would have been any different under another system? If Labour and all the other parties combined they could not form a working majority, so I fail to see how a different electoral system would have changed much. For the last few decades we have had 3 party politics, because of the success of the Lib-dems. But this election has taken us very much back to the 2 party politics of my youth, that makes getting a decent majority pretty difficult. I acknowledge that our system has its fault, just look at UKIP"s hay day, 4million votes and 1 seat, that can't be right. But in this current election I really do feel people are grasping at straws if they think a different system would have changed the result, if anything the tory's would have done better in a different system or at least labour would not have done as well as they did. But I ain't no expert.
  8. Indeed and I acknowledged the seriousness of the problem, did I not?
  9. WOW!! 1951!!! thats terrible!!! We clearly have a huge problem!! best get things changed real fast!!!
  10. Please give me a single example of when the opposition got more votes than the wining party, I don't believe it can happen.
  11. My word But you have just acknowledged that the vast majority would vote for the same party for both appointments and that not doing so would be unworkable You know who the current leader of each party is, so you do actually know who is going to be PM, depending on which party wins. This is politics, not Big brother or the X factor
  12. SO WHATS THE POINT OF CHANGING THINGS THEN!!!! Oh dear
  13. So, Grenfell Tower residents are being housed by the council in hotels etc, yet its some how outrageous that they have still had their rent payment taken. Am I missing something? I rent, if my home burnt down and my landlord rehoused me while they made repairs, would I expect to pay no rent? NO!
  14. So you vote for a local MP and a PM, which vote would trump the other? And if the local MP you vote for is in a different party to the PM you vote for how does that work?
  15. Really??? The title didn't give you a clue?
  16. Why are some unable to quote posts, is it the site or them?
  17. So basically in YOUR system, we would all vote for the leader of the party we favour and THEY would choose who represents MY area…………………………………. yeah, right thats sound like such a great idea……………………………….. I don't think Its funny how the losing side are so fast to find fault with the system
  18. I fully understand and think its a crap idea Is that simple enough for you?
  19. So you want the whole system to hinge on one person I like the fact that parties put forward a manifesto and have to find representatives for each constituency. It makes westminster at least give us a little thought. I also like the fact that those representatives have the power to remove the PM if enough of them think its necessary.
  20. So you want a President. Our head of state is the queen, which is great as it means we don't need a president. The PM is just the leader of the winning party and can change with no need for a general election. What would be the point of a leader with no party behind them to get bills passed? What a ridiculous idea, we would end up like the USA
  21. Apparently the PR system offered was not the best, IIRC.
  22. Ah!, with you know, making it bold
  23. We had a referendum on proportional representation when Clegg was loved up with Cameron. The country rejected the proposed system, although some argued it was the wrong system.
