  1. Thats why I don't pay class2 Tom, there is talk of a new single payment to all past retirement age, that will replace means tested benefits such as income support. You will get this regardless of savings and other income. Class1 is a legal requirement.
  2. If your self-employed you can chose whether you pay class2 contributions (for the pension) or not. I only pay the class1, which is about £2 a week I think. I pay into a private pension and the government pay in, in the form of tax relief, I'm not aware that any of this is changing.
  3. I don't think so You can still have a private pension, in fact all employers will soon have to offer all there employees a pension. Do you mean they are reducing tax relief???
  4. And in fact the pensions of the very lowest paid will not be affected by the changes.
  5. Its like the key behind glass next to a fire exit. Or the fire axe behind glass on american movies.
  6. You heathen!!!!! That wants cutting into big planters, much more cash than fire wood!!!!!!!
  7. Please explain more!!!!! What is this "Labour good" of which you speak???? I'm genuinely interested, I know they pumped billions into infrastructure, but it was money we did not have and they created a lot of jobs, but far to many of them were in the public sector, so they generate no revenue and we can't afford to pay them. The way I see the Labour tern of office is as follows. My house is not great, but its ok, I have 4 children 3 are employed but don't have great jobs, the forth is out of work. I go away working for a few months. When I return I find my house has been rebuilt, its now twice as big and fabulous!!!!! My children are now all employed, not only has the previously out of work one got a well paid job, but one of the others has quit their poorly paid job and now has a good one!! I sit my wife down and ask her how this miracle has occurred. Unfortunately in my absence the bank offered her a remortgage and she used the money to have the house remodelled. She also got sent a credit card through the post, so she decided to use it to employ our out of work child and give one of the poorly paid ones a better job. She said its great because they now pay more board, which is helping with the mortgage:001_rolleyes:
  8. I'm pretty sure thats the one Noah used to top out the trees he used to build the Ark.
  9. Indeed. In fact I think Bob told me he noticed straight out the box and trimmed accordingly.
  10. Strange, its says "electric chainsaw" at the top of the listing and petrol in the description ELECTRIC CHAINSAW | eBay
  11. Yes the same was done when summer felling Sycamore for furniture timber, the leave continue to transpire (is that the right term??) so most of the sap is draw out reducing the chance of staining.
  12. I think OP is taking about free fall cuts. Step cuts on the side are for cutting and chucking.
  13. I don't think there has been any "flaming", no one (until the last few posts) has aimed their comments at any individual, every one has been talking very generally and made it clear their are exceptions and good and bad in every walk of life. As for the thread getting of topic, that what happens on a forum and often leads to the most interesting discussions. TBH IMO this thread is still pretty much on topic really. If you don't like robust debate steer clear of threads like this and stick to the less emotive topics
  14. Exactly!! confidence that can only be created by spending within our means, not paying one part of society an unaffordable, unsustainable pension package!! And having a public sector that employs 50% of the working population, so the taxes of the other 50% are supposed to pay for them??????:confused1:how the hell can that work???nice one labour:thumbdown: As for forestry and arb not being valuable what utter nonsense:001_rolleyes:
  15. No they don't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is what has caused the mess we are in!!!!!!! The last lot believed they could "make the rules", but thats madness!!, trying to change the laws of economics is as stupid as thinking you can change the rules of physics!!! Gorden Brown said "I have ended the cycle of boom and bust" as he spoke those words we were at the top of the largest boom the word has ever seen, what a bloody fool!!!!!!!
  16. I subbed to large Co's and councils, I hated the attitude of the staff, they just wanted to do as little as they could get away with and moan about the management, I HATED it. I've spent plenty of time in hospitals I am amazed at how much time the staff spend chatting and the fatness of many PS works say a lot, its not possible to be that fat and work hard, IMO. Of course there are exceptions and some work very hard, but there are too many of the other sort and they would drive me bonker!!
  17. Because working around idle people makes me sick to my stomach, so I prefer to run my own firm.
  18. Exactly!!!!!! And now with the new fee's they don't start repaying below £21K!!!
  19. What your describing would be accepted with open arms by many who have gone bust or been made redundant in the private sector. Those with private pensions that have gone bust giving them nothing for the £1000's they have paid in would give their right arm for a deal like that!!!!! The problem is those in the PS have had this so incredibly good for so long they don't realise how lucky they are!!!!
  20. The wage I highlighted in bold. I am vice chair of governors at my local primary, so am more than aware of what teachers earn
