  1. Quite right Mick!!! I think if they wake up a bit tired or it looks like it might rain, the employer should pop round to theirs and put their wages through the door (so they don't need to get out of bed)
  2. TBH, car not starting these days is a pretty poor excuse, especially this time of year. It is the employees responsibility to get to work on time, car won't start or missed the bus is not really on.
  3. The "Plug spanner" is also known as a "Combi spanner" and is used to tension the chain, unfasten over tight fuel caps and remove the clutch cover. I would certainly not want to be far from one when using a saw.
  4. Yes you can, the legislation was change a while back, you have a responsibility to check, same goes for Bat's.
  5. TBH, I think its depressing rather than funny.
  6. And how exactly do you feed your family if business is not going well????? Its having family and caring about them that makes most worry about their business. IMO.
  7. "a bit"?????? They were well and truly fleeced!!!!! Sounds like they also fly tipped some of the arising too
  8. :confused1:Have you guys never taxed a car????????????????? You need MOT and proof of insurance in order to get road tax
  9. I wish Timber Wolf all the very best with their new machine. My first chipper was a Entec Chippit 25, it was a demonstrator with very few hours on it. That chipper built my business!!! I got superb support from both Entec (now TW) and David Orange. This new machine looks excellent, its British built and a representative of the manufacturer is on here late into the night answering peoples questions!!!!! I wish Stihl would take a leaf out of their book!!!
  10. But chipping what? twist Thorn, conifer, cord wood???
  11. As Steve says these are good, in fact IMO they are the "dogs".
  12. You need to be careful with that, the tax man may not agree with you that he is actually SE and come after you for unpaid tax and NI. Sorry Steve beat me to it.
  13. Years ago I had one who didn't turned up one day, no call, no text. Following day he called me asking why I had not collected him from the meeting point, no mention of his failure to show the previous day I just laughed and said he was no longer required.
  14. No, although just as I was going into theatre for the operation to get my face reassembled I did say "I will look like George Clooney after this op won't I??", the lady anaesthetist replied "but you already do" although I think she may just have be trying to make me feel good
  15. Which combinations don't????
  16. Its was an Ash that had snapped out years ago, the top 3/4 was resting on the remaining stem and another tree. Instead of spiking up the standing stem and cutting the top out I felled the standing stem away from the other tree that the top was resting on so that the snapped out top would pull out of the other tree and fold onto the felled stem. It went perfectly, but I had failed to account for the amount of curve in the snapped out top. There was nowhere for me to go because of a barbwire fence. The top landed flat, but due to the curve it rolled at great speed in my direction and hit me full in the face and pushing me to the floor against the fence. The hospital were convinced my nose was broken, but x-rays confirmed my thoughts that it was not. A brilliant surgeon called Mr Patel cleaned the wound and stitched it up.
  17. I'm pretty sure my dad runs a Esse wood burning cooker and separate wood burner, both with back boilers into his pressurised system, without issue, he's no plumber, but a pretty clued up old dude.
  18. Word!!! Although things these days are way tighter than they were a few years back, so theres not much fat than can be trimmed. These days asking for extras throwing in some times works better.
  19. Its very good of you to post this, its much easier to keep quiet and pretend it never happen, a little over a month ago I took a short cut and paid the price, totally my own fault, I was very lucky and only missed a day of work:blushing: The NHS really came through for me, but I felt such a knob
  20. Worth more than some of the NPTC tickets in the real world
