  1. It burns fast because its dry, possibly a waste on an open fire, but on a stove you simply turn it down and save wood One option for open fires is kiln drying larger logs.
  2. The problem you have is that a great many log merchants sell pretty much green timber, those selling properly seasoned, air dried logs need to concentrate on informing their potential customers about the difference between their logs and unseasoned logs, rather than worrying about kiln dried, IMO. If someone has had wet timber sold to them as seasoned and it sat there hissing with water bubbling out the end of the logs, they may not understand that they have been conned. We have all been in a pub where there is sopping wet wood only burning because its sat on a bed of red hot coal.
  3. A huge proportion of people are burning wet wood, this means a fair bit of the wood they burn is simply boiling off the water rather than heating their home. So a log merchant commercialising this process to enable the end user to have a better produce and not need to store and use as much timber is no bad thing, IMO.
  4. No did not buy one. I only use about half my container, drying 12cube each time. The water coming out of the logs condenses on the celling of the unused end of the container, I know the logs are try when the water stops condensing and I get dry celling between the partition and the water droplets. My little forklift struggles to lift two cages of wet logs, it easily lifts the dry ones, so there is a significant weight loss.
  5. Pointless.
  6. In 2003 I was paying £6.5K for PL & EL, with no tools or plant cover, I currently pay around £1K including £15k of tools and plant cover. So I ain't too concerned by this tiny tax increase.
  7. I've had breakfast in bed for the last 25years, porridge for the first 23years and alternating between porridge or scrambled eggs and plumb tomatoes for the last 2years and a cafeteria of fresh black coffee.
  8. Give it 2 years and it will look grand.
  9. I used a prussic for 18 years, bought a Zz two years ago, I've not used a prussic once since I bought the Zz.
  10. The wings on a U1000 are no different to the other square cabs, the bonnets were different on the older ones, but later ones have the standard bonnet.

  18. There are tracked cherry pickers that will get into some very tight spots, fitting through 3ft gates with ease.

  24. Not sure I would worry to much, I've been using saws and chippers for 20+years, I pretty much always used ear defenders and my hearing is excellent. I live with my wife and four children, but its generally me that hear the bell or someone phone ringing at the other end of the house. I also listen to the radio inside my earmuffs, I wonder if this helps ward off tinnitus as your ear is picking out the sound rather than just hearing a continual noise, even through its muffled.
