I had borrowed an old escort from a friend and it had been fitted with cheep cheep tyres. I was driving through quite a rural area got a puncture and was in a rush so jumped out to change the wheel. I proceeded to break the nuts before jacking the car, all nuts apart from 1 which was a bit hard, I must of put the wrench in quite a vertical position as when I was jumping on it it went through my trainer in to my foot. The wrenches that came with the escorts had a plastic end so that you could prize off the hub caps but this had gone and the metal which was left tapered in to a point. It happened so quick it didn't really hurt and I pulled my foot off with out realizing what had happened. It took me a few seconds to figure out why my trainer was connected to the wrench then once I realized it started to hurt and I panicked and started swearing. I was in a quite location with a flat, luckily a couple in a house nearby heard me swearing and came out to see what happened. they took me to hospital and changed the tyre for me. That night I woke up in absolute agony and it took a while before I could walk.

Theres a largeish firm by me that expanded quite quickly and is feeling the pinch. One of the lead climber / team leader is on £80 a day and most of the groung crew are on the arb aprentaship and are being paid £25 per day.

Buy a moisture meter from maplins or on the net for about £20, when the logs are delivered split a couple in half then check moisture which should be about 20/25% if he is selling them as seasoned! Lately Ive been at jobs where people have had logs delivered and they have been freshly cut and they have paid top money for them.

What gets me is how people go from overly nice to down right nasty in the instant they dont get the extras. Had a argument with one guy because I woldnt chip his kids old bunk bed once, oh and the guy that wanted to put his fridge freezer on the chip and me take it down the tip.

Down here most people wait until you turn up to do their job then bring it out when your chipping up! I started telling them i would take a donation but I couldn't believe the amount of people who said they would take it down the tip them selves or drag it up the garden. If you look up the van tuner web site the guy does a good map for low down tourque for towing etc which I was looking at for my Transit. I know some of these guys have a bad name but people on the transit forum only have good things to say about him.
