I've had problems with veg oil. Seems to gum up the bars and chains if you leave it on for a few days.

The Bandit PTO i had on demo had a belt drive.

PTO chippers are much cheaper but you do have to have a tractor or a landy with a pto to be able to use them. With my pto chipper on my tractor i can go and chip in most loactions where it would be a pain to get a road tow too. Just had a Bandit 150 out on demo i used a 70hp tractor and it worked brilliantly i then took it off and put it on a 90hp tractor and it was even better. If i had a bigger tractor it would no doubt work even better. Less no stress kicking in thus much higher chip production. In my old job of domestic tree work and garden maintenance a pto chipper and a tractor wouldn't have been woth the investment but a small road tow was. Now i'm in forestry a pto chipper is invualable bit of kit.

I had a Bandit 150xp out on demo this time last week. Only had a 70hp tractor on it but it was fantastic. Hand fed very well with brush wood, timber and slab wood from the sawmill. Crane fed the same stuff in and it still worked really well. We the decided to really test it got a few 12" bits of Norway spruce that were 10' long and put them it. Even with 70hp it didn't phase the thing at all no stress kicked in obviously but if i'd slowed the feed speed right down i think that could have been avoided. Throwing in multipul small stems with the crane say 3-4"x10' still didn't phase it. So impressed with the Bandit that we're buying it.

The needel bearing in my 357xpg keep going. I do grease them too they just seem to break. I think i've put about 5 needle bearings in the dam thing in 3 years.

Wilsons have a reasonableby priced 5.5t double drum igland at the moment.

Give John at wilsons a ring and ask. I have a 5050 which is a 90s crane. That will lift 1.7t next to the trailer. I've used a 560TL both roof and trailer mounted and that will dead lift about 2.5t close in.

On one course i was frounded upon for wearing a Vertex with the vents open on the ground. I wonder if it was a trainer being a pain. I wear a vertex or a balance helmet depending on site/weather conditions.

The 357 does feel a bit bigger than a 346 but its much lighter and more nible than a 372. If you get the chance to try a 24" on a 576 do it works very well a little nose heavy but cuts so well.

There isn't a great difference in power between the 390 and the 395 in on the UK versions around .2hp. 390 is cheaper and has had some more user friendly features. For some reason though it seem to come as a .404 pitch. The 576 which is 75ish cc is also worth putting into the collection as its fantastic. I have 346 xpg (46cc version) -13" bar 357 xpg (56cc) - 15" bar 372 xpg (72cc) - 20" bar and a friend who often parts with their 576 with a 24" bar.

I've looked at getting a Jonsered (or red huskys) as the local agri dealer sells them. I've thought about a 2153 but they're still more money that i'd like to part with for something that isn't a 346. Is that Birch all stacked with the loader or by hand as its a nice neat stack -

Try the 576 70ish cc but its dam powerful. The new 390 is a hell of a saw too rather that than my 660. As for clearing saws i loved my 345fx the 345rx with the clearing saw head just ain't the same. Perfer both of thoses to the FS450 and FS450k -

I use Huskys! Got a MS660 but thats seen alot of use this winter for the big stuff. Just for you some photos of some Huskys in the woods

Hi Might have a site comming up to thin, not seen it yet but got some details through today. Its got Silver Fir and Western Hemlock in it. What would i sell these off as and who would take them? I've never delt with these two species before? Guesing pulp or chipwood for the silver fir? Any help great recived. Thanks Andy

I know a few colleges (Chicester college for one) do a domestic chainsaw course. Covering safe use,maintenance and PPE. Much cheaper than the CS30 course and i don't think it has the legal stuff in it. Try ringing your local college to see if they do one.

Seems about right. Try Adrian Flux they might be able to save you some money. I pay NFU 1200 quid for my 07 plate navara. I've 6 years of no claims pass plus and i'm 26. Insurance is a killer.

Did it look like that? Thats a Stenner 41 if it's any help. Stenner will know what that one is as i've got parts for it from them. Helpful bunch.

Zurich do fleet policy. I don't have enough vehicles to have fleet insurance i have insured my house with them in the past.
