Yes they are. Ones cut with a saw work just fine but they are called bastard shingles. How do you set your saw to cut the angle of the shingle on the band saw?

We have a bracket that sits in place of the top link. The PTO pump has a bit mounted on it that holds part of the bracket that in tern hold the controls. The bloke from the NPTC didn't like our set up that the controls weren't in the cab and the rear window wasn't guarded.

Yep. Wether you pull the tractor to the load or a load to the tractor at full reach you still get the same problem.

Its a solid bit of kit pulls well its just started chewing up cable it's on its 3rd in 2 years now i think. I wish we had the double drum version though and also one without a bit of rope to pull to reel in logs.

Hi We have a Fransguard single drum winch and it is constantly chewing up cables. They kink and fray, the kinks get so bad that you can only get about 1/3 of the cable out by hand befor it needs to be pulled out with a jolt from the tractor. Sometimes you can't even get that much out. It started off when we used nylon core cable and Fransguard blamed that for the problem as it gets squashed. They sent us some steel cable which i can't remember how think and some may strands are in it, but that frays and jams too. Any idea whats wrong with the thing? We just can't afford to replace it. How big is that trailer about 7 tonnes? I really like forwarding got a bit to do in the next week or so. Never seen a steering drawbar before.

I'm the same. I use the large Komet Butterfly find it most comfortable, i use to use a good old T22 wide back which was also good but i found the Side Ds would stick into me after a while.

We have the one of the 10" PTO kwick chip chippers. It's good at its job but if you get something stuck in it, you'll be there for an hours getting it out. The frame it's built on fell in half at some point in its life too. No experence of their road tow stuff though. Don't Jenson do a 750kg chipper now?

I don't think i'd get a saw without heated handels now. Have it on the 346 and the 357. It's fantastic in the winter and on every rainy day when your gloves are wet.

Bit of T Cut and it will fine. Anyway its not a proper van without a dent or two.

I'm in the same boat. May just have to phone the tax office or ask a accountant for the definative answer. Hopefully someone here will know. -
FMOC is Forest machine operator certificate. It's through NPTC. The tractor unit (wheeled rigid) is unit 1.3 and you'll need that before you can do the mulcher. Once you have that you can do others with it like tractor mounted harvester and forwarder. I think it was Land based training that i did my FMOC 1.3, 3.1,3.2,3.3 (which is forwarding) with. Did side arm with them too.

I found out the answer to this a year or two ago but i can't remember now. I think it was upto 10 litres inside a van. Over that it has to be stored outside eg bed of a pick up.

I think you be looking for the FMOC flails and mulchers unit. It's somewhere in unit 6 i think. You'll need to do a a unit 1.3 too for the tractor. Maybe lantra awards do something as well. Just done their side arm flail course so now i have a bit of paper telling me i can use it safely.

I've just spent 120 quid on the Buxtons website. Their Bioplus is listed at 95+vat on the website.

Seems about right seen it going for nearly 90+vat. Have you tried the Plant Oil bio oil. It's good stuff much thicker than the bioplus not sure on the cost. I tend to use tesco veg oil for day to day use proper saw oil on the big bars and on the Alaskan Mill.

About 50 quid for 25 litres of STIHL Bioplus. Although a lot of the time i pop down to tesco and get 5 litres of veg oil for a £1.50.

A 346xpg with a 13" bar goes like the clappers good weight and balance too. I like the 357xpg too its a bit better for felling as its more powerful but i always go back to the 346.

Most people will say No. Farmers on the other hand are normally open to the idea. If you have your own public liability insurance more land owners will be inclined to say yes. I've climbed in a public wood and someone called the police. They asked if we were trained and had mobile phones if we needed help, we said yes and they said carry on.

Does anybody make a scailed down forwarding trailer for landys and the like?

Ring the tree officer. E-mail them the pics and they'll send someone out to agree with you. Then that way you won't get any hassle in the long run.
