  1. like the pink helmet i also heard about today. lol.
  2. haha blue polyprop rope, used that before not my rope i must say! not the best rigging rope!
  3. haha, yes steve!
  4. erm not sure havent kept up to date on that thread. its near ipswich in suffolk. hope i havent put you off. lol. its a good college and seems popular for alot of arb students and im sure its just time it need to get better established with resources.
  5. yes i agree its got me started and ive learnt alot and i can climb a tree and use a chainsaw. but i think if i was up against someone on the same course at merrist wood i think they would be far better. but then thats a well established arb college.
  6. no steve tought me more about limb walking in 5 mins the other day than every been told before! yes jason is brilliant! just the college and some of the others there.
  7. you get more of a qualification reading this forum than some of the stuff they come out with. lol. well enless your going to do fencing. i learnt more about fencing this year than anything else. and how to shovel horse sh!t from one end of the college to the other. cos altho its an agricultural college getting a tractor and trialer to do it is just to much hard work!
  8. cerne is at otley like myself not the best college for arb. its only been doing arb for 2 years now i was one of the first arb students. its brilliant when you first start but i hate college. the only trees we ever climb are woodland trees. 'limb walking' no chance. i no the instuctors try there best but the facilities arent the best. and i havent climbed at college since before xmas not my idea of a arb corse. and all we ever do is take downs. never thinned reduces pollarded just spike up it and dismantle it. Sorry my moan is over now!
  9. i recently bought a loads of rigging stuff (a small load) a rope whoopie sling pulley and portawrap second hand. it is all brand new never been used as the bloke had no work but had all the kit so sold it. i have the receipt for all of it and was all bought about 6 months ago from honey brothers. but none of the rope or whoopie sling has any markings or number on. the rope was off the role but i dont no what to do about getting it loler tested now. does anyone know what i should so. surely it shouldnt be sold without the relevant numers and info?

    Stretch Airs

haha! thats laughing at his comment, not saying no corse your not the boss cos your a female.
  11. i think he means a pole belt. they always call it a pole belt at college. its a flip line to me.
  12. i use a mailon with a twist so my grab sits nice on its side and doesnt get all twisted. but the mailon is from a sailing shop and isnt arb specific so not sure if i should be using it. you should have a weak point in your flip line if its a wire core one so it can be cut with a knife in rescues. but i have never seen anyone with this on there attachment. Where you buy your harness from?
  13. Haix you can get the proclimbers with the moulded soles or the others with replacable ones. i have the replaceable ones. i love them just find the soles very hard compared to my old aquafells.

    and me please, cheers. thanks
  19. i mean a silky one when i say i use one in the tree. using a powered on is just lazy. and stupid.
  20. i use one quite alot i think there brilliant for dead wooding and pruning the tips. but awkard to climb with and heavy at full extention but alot easier than climbig out to the tips. heard of someone who was climbing with a pole saw. hooked it on a branch above him save carrying it around. was climbing aroud beneath it when it fell off the branch so he thought he'd catch it. instead slipped through his hand cutting half way through it to the middle of his palm. lovely!

    Arborsculpture

wow some cool stuff there. you would have to be very patient though.
  22. well if i buy new it will last for years anyway just alot of money if its not making alot to start with. one of my saws is 11 years old but still runs fine and use it regularly.
  23. does anyone know of as reliable shop that sell second hand saws. only reason is because they would only be for my own work which isnt everyday or even every week so not really worth spending £1000 or so at the momment. but i think a 341 and a 460 is what i need!
  24. i think a 341 would be better as its more powerfull but still small enough for general use. stihl all the way!!!!!!!
  25. Im looking at getting some new saws. At the moment of have a 200t which i had from new which is great but i also have 2 025's and a johnsered 625 which were all bought second hand just to get me started doing the odd job here and there. and also a little echo which was new for just in the garden before i even thought about doing arb as a job. so i know there not brilliant saws but were cheap and served me well. now im looking at upgrading them all but not sure what to get. im thinking about a 260 and 441 or something like those. anyone got any suggestions.
