  11. my prefered line for wet days is someone elses unless it,s velocity no seriosly am suprised steve said he would go bigger i would do the opposite as they dont hold as much water to drip down your arm and dont get as heavy all probably down to different styles and combinations another plus point for the shunt it does not slip in the wet
  12. i started 20 years ago so a lot of old school in my bag but as an employee with control of budgets all new ropes and kit bought tried and tested and am prepared to try anything i use a pantin tried a hitch climber for a couple of months but you cant beat a nice comfy hard arse for sure and have now got to climb as ergonomicaly as poss because i didnt when i started
  13. you can,t polish a turd
  14. timber hitch is more likely to come loose through constant shock loading than the cow hitch always tie a not in end of rope on timber hitch to stop it slipping out i have had the timber hitch come undone and the pulley nearly killed me and groundies as it came past my ear i am a big fan of whoopieeeeeeeees and loopieeeees
  15. ive had a few pairs and loved them though im only 11 stone my mate is 15stone and he wrecked his they are not a strong long lasting boot they have a nice soft flexible sole if you are heavy on boots they do not last though i get about 18 months from mine if the lace clips dont all fall off when i tried to order some more was told they had stopped making them and were now doing the experts which are heavier and have a hard sole prefered my old boots for sure

    AA

hope i get this right all council tree departments were invited to a h&s regional seminars approx 2 years ago and part of it was council liability if a council sets on any contractor and something goes wrong the person who signed the work order would be liable if they had not done all the checks ie risk assess, qualifications, equipment, insurance and on and on whereas the AA does all these checks so it absolves the council from checking and any liability
  17. is that because its usually you who breaks things
  18. i have though not sure how you intend using it
  19. once had to dismantle a hornbeam and grind stump due to a gas leak smack under stump gas board had to stand at bottom of tree whilst dismantling with gas masks and fire suits and big extinguishers no prob whilst we dimantled around them then we had to grind it we warned them we would set off sparks when we hit concrete or granite but they were happy to stand as close as us till we hit a granite set. Gas men can run:asshole2: me and my mate just stood there smiling at each other job sorted and gas leak fixed
  20. once found a cable with stump grinder dragged it down road more wire than ive ever seen cut off 360 homes i was about as popular as a pork sausage in a synagog several grand later all sorted
  21. cheers chris and i was very glad to see most of the issues covered have been resolved by how i now use the shunt set up
  22. if they catch you they give you a right bollocking and then you get a letter threatening court action been there done that got made to feel 2 inch tall once found a cable with stump grinder dragged it down road more wire than ive ever seen cut off 360 homes i was about as popular as a pork sausage in a sinagog
  23. its always a sticky prob if your going to get charged for all damage your going to cause as a climber then your either not going to want to tackle those more demanding risky jobs or your going to take longer to do the job which also costs the boss more than a odd fence panel there is also what is accidental damage and avoidable damage my employer pays for everything though we are given all bills for damage to make us aware how much stuff costs
  24. 357 had problems with there automatic de-compression which caused probs with running which they supply a retro kit for and on the new ones back to the manual one we have about 9 of these of various ages and think there spot on now though are a lot better on 15 inch bars and we run 372s for 18 inch not going off subject we run all heated handles as well if you are spending £500 on a saw for many years use what is another £30 think of your hands
  25. i tried pete mctrees when he first got them so presume on original gaffs and i liked the gaffs but wasnt convinced on the straps
