  1. this is a grey area but it would clarify to everyone if you asked your assessor as your replt said you thought it covered light prunning but prunning is cs40 now if you did 39 and 40 you definatly use saw for stubbs but everyone seems to go why is there cs39 hope you pass and find out your assessors interpretation of what it entitles you to do
  2. dare not
  3. after reading this years ago and speaking to treevolution i was informed that every tree surgeon they spoke to didnt use a saw one handed at which point i thought it must a english thing for all the work and money that went into this report it could have looked at how when and why VERY disapointed:laola::fu:

  6. which photos does this refere to and as for using a saw one handed i do not know a tree surgeon that does not use it one handed but i totally agree there is a time and a place which i do feel some people forget but as for twice in a year i can certaily add some 00000 to that
  7.:party:i think i will get one so you can all take the p--- have asked them if i could have it in pink
  8. i once did a big beech that had to hit the floor in a 4hr slot then a path cleared through the rest of the tree then took 6 men 2 days to clear so have been there but i did stop to help honest i have seen too many climbers dump tree down then bog off all i am saying is glad i dont have to work with them all the team i work with are all fully qualified climbers and we are all fully qualified groundies as well and am really starting to apriciate that :vroam::vroam:

  10. thank god you dont work with me:BoomSmilie_anim::BoomSmilie_anim:
  11. :vroam:be very carefull putting a hiab on a 7.5 tonner or buying one we have a lot of problems and had to terminate lease the front axles are too easy to overload before we had the hiab moved further back i was just legal empty by my self with a passenger or my wallett front axle weight and when you load timber straight over now run a 17tonner just for that reason and at least now i can load it to the sky ontop of woodchip and still be legal
  12. if you use a prussick on a ballancer you thread it through 3 times to gige you 6 turns then when you get it where you want it pull loop up and break prussick and it will never slip hope this makes sense
  13. totaly disagree if a climber makes a mistake he can get hurt true but thats his fault most of a climber mistakes can lead to a groundie either getting hurt or working harder than he should have to The BEST climbers most important assett is his groundsman and TRUST is imperative give a good climber a team of crap groundies and he will look and perform crap yet good groundies can help a reasonable climber perform well and look good
  14. 40/41 does'nt make someone experienced or truly competent, it all comes down to good on the job training. To often i've seen in-experienced climbers go out on dismantles, they get into bad habits make mistakes and never learn as they do not have the guidance or experience to guide them or realise they are doing it wrong having 40 and 41 does not make anyone a good climber you are right a colleage of mine passed 10 years ago and is still crap and mates are good climbers and not qualified have just put 3 colleagues through 32 40 and 41 assessments only and they all had min 3 years experience only 1 year with us and breazed through apart from a few bad habits but they could work under supervision before passing as i think sending a man straight through all his tickets he would be a liability

  16. :saint:WHEN i first started all we used was posh bailer band so all this new gear is super strong i dont think your problem is confidence in the gear more a general fear of climbing which only comes with time just remember all your climbing kit can safely hold a long wheel base landrover so unless your very very large it wont let you down its more likely that you let your kit down
  17. just what i needed cheers
  18. i have always wondered too i think it is aimed at folk that can then use a saw in a tree and develop towards 40 and 41 or is it for climbers to cut down trees that dont need a lowering rope
  19. i used a 15cm sling on microsender and have just swapped to a swivel positioner which can be released under load so am thinking of not having a soft link although soft link not a prob other than needs loler checks every 3 months which is a pain in the but
  20. the point of not stepping up because times kicking on is one of the lame excuses that WILL get you hurt p.s really i am not having a go but have seen too many people get hurt and i can name at least 10 people i have met that have nasty scars to prove it and have had to finish 2 trees because the climber cut themselves both had over 6 weeks off and one never climbed again not pleasent
  21. totaly right you are only insured to do something you are qualified to im sure an insurance company would use that as a simple excuse not to pay out and if cs40 and 41 dont mater why do ANY at all

    MS660 Problem

the best wy is get shut and buy a husqvarna job sorted
  23. :asshole2:forgot to say we all learn every day there is always things to learn from every job if you stop learning give up your is ego would be better than you p.s my son put the smiley face on honest
  24. in first one your strop looked a bit long you sempt to be struggling to reach what would happen if your saw had caught and kicked back 2 hands tons safer and when cutting you should have 2 attachment points even if bottom one is below your knees climbers have leant forward to snap then off and strop come over top and guess where they ende up on second one appart from lowering was crap was quite concerned at why you hadn,t stepped up a bit to stop you working at full reach and as for holding on with one hand just below your cutting point what would be the outcome if you had a little slip
  25. this has just made me realise how old i am and how long ago i qualified
