  3. drink shandy tastes nice and tends to fill you up rather than getting drunk Why do you feel the need to drink pints could you not do half,s or shandy or a soft drink or are you not man enough for that............
  4. i have used 2 660 recently and was very dissapointed in the levels of vibration had to stop using them compared to my 372 and 395 which are a lot better is it down to springs against rubbers or down to the colour

    Climbing glasses

stihl safety glasses are my choice in yellow or orange (happy glasses)or bolle spider sunglasses for those rare days you need sun glasses
  7. if a new rope has an average strengh of 6000kg what would its swl be
  8. thats correct
  9. i beg to dissagree with you on that one i,m afraid if everyone that had recieved some training got a industry publication which covered reviews on new products safety issues new ideas and new methods or tips or even brief discriptions on accidents legislation ect ect Do you not think that the industry would move forward i know not everyone would read it I think most people on here would admit they have learnt something however small so if you could reach the wider audience i,m sure it would benifit some This need not be a big expensive thing compared to what some charge and compared to the price of insurance, tax fuel ect pittence How much does the average climber spend on new kit how much is a saw people keep talking about the price of qualifications thats up to you most companies pay less if your not qualified how much to train for other jobs ie rope access hgv outdoor persuits instructors sorry for dronning on fire away
  10. most crane drivers will tell you the weight on there scales which is not a true weight as the hook and head ect are included in the weight they give you always ask what the head and hook weighs as they are heavier than they look sorry for waffling i know what i mean
  11. i was counting sour grapes as 1:001_tt1:
  12. how many of those do you tick:001_tt1: i recon 3
  13. there is a cs qualification cs 45
  14. why do you all seem to put your groundies down and refere to them in derogatrive terms If they cant sharpen or use saws its about time you all showed them and gave them a little training. i always work with top guys that can do everything all right i may pay them a little more but its not me that pays them its the customer most of my customers would rarher have a proffeshional job done by experienced team than 1 guy and his nupet who is not a groundie A true groundie will be a very experienced guy that can help you and keep the job and site running smoothly and should be respected and paid accordingly and be part of the team:confused1::confused1:
  15. surely you should all have a qualified climber on site for rescue purposes who will be able to sharpen saws if he can not sharpen saws i would not have him on site you can get chain bench vices to sharpen chains off the saw i always take spare saws very rarely sharpen on site and still have a 254 with a crap bar and put chains that are at the end of there life for stumping ect how much do you pay for your chains as if buying in lengh and sarp or sabre they really are cheap though very substandard imo compared to stihl and oregon I can buy sarp for half the price of stihl but wouldn,t and on those rainy days teach your groundies to sharpen chains if they spend all day sharpening chains they may not blunt as many next time if you take your chains to dealers or hire shops they usually do them on a grinder which usually makes them too hard to then sharpen by file alternatively send them me and i will never have to buy chais again and i will pay the postage Or let the lads take them home to sharpen in there own time in exchange for keeping there job or a bacon butty if your nicer than skyhuck:sneaky2:

    Ash tree removal

nice one reg this is not a criticism just something i started doing and makes loads of sense to me. tie the tag line to the lowering line using a blakes hitch and your groundsman does not have to untie it and you don,t either and its always there and can be easily adjusted as bits get bigger or smaller and just does not seem to clutter me up i am not trying to tell anyone how to suck eggs just something that really works for me and seems to make life slightly easier once again nice to see jobs from climbers prospective how long was the job start to finish
