  1. take a picture from the other side
  2. only if your light, too on and off for me
  3. just a quick search to show what i'm talking about but, vortex water turbines require less water and head http://www.ee.co.za/article/the-gravitational-vortex-water-turbine-puts-a-spin-on-small-hydro.html because of their relative small scale can as efficient even at 5Kw
  4. work in switzerland but live in france, much cheaper
  5. sterline scion, milks a bit at first but tends well
  6. it the owners of the companies fault for not instilling a safety first culture in the company especially on site. The guy holding the camera is the most at fault as he is questioning what the climber is doing yet does nothing, more to the fact no one on site has had the confidence to stop the job.
  7. 'Gerald Berenek himself advises it in The Fundamentals'. it's a good book but in forty years haven't most things moved on and it not that relevant to the work we do in the UK
  8. We've got this marshal, left side is electric and it's a boiler for the UFH and hot water
  9. its very low value firewood and not much different to arbwaste, £20-30 ton
  10. use mine as a access line and find it good for that.
  11. they don't make ladies chainsaw pants as the test standard is for a mens cut (in the rise) but all the makes are cut slightly different, like jeans, so it a case of finding a brand that fits. Boots, Haix start at 5, but expect changes as the new standard means that all chainsaw boot will be quite tall from now on
  12. i Have a couple of days hedging and coni bashing in Carlisle on wednesday 26th and Thursday 27th and could do with an extra pair of hands or a couple with a van to move some chip would be a bonus. Job entails dragging brash, feeding chipper, moving logs etc. DM me with experience and rates if your interested Thanks for looking craig
  13. what most council forget is that their rechargeable rate (internal) is not the same as the true chargeable rates and doing so is fraud, the council subsidising private tree work for the benefit of an individual
  14. I do work in Harrogate a fair bit I hear from contractors that I work that put applications in that they are very awkward to deal with and that supposedly they will not approve any reduction work how accurate this is i can't say because I have never put a application in to reduce a tree that's because you never do reductions though??
  15. liros made slickline which was much stiffer and thicker than the new ftc stifline which is similar in construction, but does tangle more than the old one. All these lines need to be stored flat and not folded in a cube as it will kink the line
  16. and once that investment has been made they have some highly transferable skills and a transigent attitude to where they work
  17. having seen a lot of climbers, common sense is a scarce thing now a days and one way to get over that is working in a safety first culture. so your suggestions are; get rid (passing the problem on) demote(stopping development) hope for the best(ignoring)don't do anything to improve the situation for your company, ideally we should be mentoring and training but who has time or money for that in the commercial world!!
  18. lit ours last night too, usually the solars still keeping up this time of year but not so this weekend
  19. this is a new version of the zig zag, slightly different design, tested by the manufacturer for srt with their device- where's the business sense is saying anything otherwise
  20. generally stopping everyone burning fence panels, pallets and other rubbish(dirty wood) would be more effective, if the objective was to clean the air, rather than to raise more tax and suck up to big business

If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
Please have a look around, sign up, share and contribute the best you have.
