  1. No, broadley speaking other industries have one working system and a backup system that only come into play on the failure of the primary. these systems are designed to work on near/vertical ropes in 2D. they do not use two primary systems or work in 3D........generally and the whole thing falls down around anchor points
  2. your not supposed to fall in a work position harness
  3. Yes but not as a mandatory requirement. Fail to Safe, built in redundancy and the wider choice of options. I don't use two lines alot but the two bridges add a lot of stability when branch walking, as the two rings are usually apart etc. It's also nice to have that option as the work plan often changes once you are up in the tree.
  4. good job there's some designed with two or three independent bridges then?
  5. yep. are you competent to tie that knot? has that knot been tested to work with the rope and hitch cord combination you are using? AND do the rope manufactures approve that whole set-up? yes there is the turtle burger CE climb, but 'they' have moved the goal posts and its impossible for any one else to do!
  6. so the biggest problem is lack of training and inexperience?
  7. just the thin edge of the wedge, knots will be band as each component in every system will have to be compatible ☕
  8. we use wooden potato boxes, can be picked up for £15, and have a covered porch by the back /side door where they fit. i trim the box's down a little so you can reach the back. change the box's in ten minutes if the tractors battery's not flat
  9. a friend has a massive one, size of two filing cabinets, looked great worked well until the stone cracked
  10. bind the cord with electrical tape before you cut it, cut in the middle of the tape and dont forget to mark it up for your LOLER records ( use white tape and number with a sharpie)
  11. could be, but the idea been if its a sport its not work so you could use no ropes and free solo it ??
  12. like the doors of hell, what are you heating an outside olympic pool, it most be a full time job feeding that many logs a day. autumn and spring run the wood aga for 2-4 hours cook tea and charge the UFH, in the winter may be up to 12hrs but dont keep it in all night. use about 15m3 a year
  13. if you had a preinstalled access line and backup, it would be 6 lines, all requiring different anchor points, plus lanyards and H2H connectors, i think that there is upto 14 connection points/carabiners,
  14. update, i called the TO after getting little scene from the admin assistant. glitch on their system, but the application is ok and i have the receipt from the Planning Portal so they except the dates and that 6 weeks has passed. crack on. result and thanks for the feedback guys
  15. very very little. italy is the only place that you need a second line, but only when accessing the tree ssrt
  16. what Timon said, plus no one will mind if you have a little wobble or you voice cracks, eyes leak or anything like that, I did when i gave my best mates eulogy, i shows emotion and compassion. don't over think it
  17. How do i stand, submitted a CA on the planning Portal and received a conformation that it had been sent to the council, checked the council website as they are now out of time, before we start work(light pruning) and its not there? crack on or ring the tree officer?
  18. but there only attached to one body, so single redundancy again
  19. And of course to follow it to its logical conclusion you need two bridges and two independant tie in points.
  20. if its prize money for a sport, we wouldn't have to use two anchor point etc as we are not at work ?
  21. just thinking aloud, a new sport of tree climbing for prize money.(nothing to do with work) there will be several divisions/leagues, removals pruning etc, with a handy cap system dependant on number in the team and size of chipper etc, this sport involves climbing trees however you want, to do the tasks depending in which league you are playing, to collect as much prize money in the shortest time. league positions will be worked out after handy cap taken (may be like golf as its a sport) i think it will take some time to work out but from tomorrow, full on training for this exciting new sport
