  1. In reality it is very unlikely that your tree surgeon will be able to climb a tree in a neighbours garden without crossing the boundary line. You could get a MEWP or do it when they are out. Trespass to land is not a criminal act and as long as the cuts are not over the boundary and you offer the arrisings to your neighbour, I don't see what they could sue you for? Pretty sure you could not be sued for trespass as your neighbour has not suffered a loss.. If you left the waste you could be done for fly tipping.
  2. The high prices that landrovers were being advertised for appear to have been overly optimistic... We don't need to sell it, we know it's history and know that we can keep it operational for another 20 years.. If someone offered good money we would sell it, but it is worth quite alot to us as as spare/backup/rarely used tipper.
  3. The 130 steers like a boat when everything is connected..
  4. It will look awful if you cut the top out IMO. Leave it until it is too big then remove it. There is NO reason to then only plant something small, plant what you like. Trees do NOT have to be left to reach maturity. Grow it for 25 years, enjoy it and then remove it. You can do this in a cycle rather than just plant a crappy sorbus.. Removing a tree every 25 years will arguably not cost much more than the maintenance of a smaller species.
  5. Get a copy of tg 1. Watch the videos that the as have posted on YouTube and you will see that is not the case.

  7. Anyone seen damage similar to this? The hot exhaust from the diamond cutter, thanks virgin. As it is yew I expect it to come back. How long do folk think it will be until recovers.
  8. Is anyone willing to send me a copy of some RAMS that I can adapt for a job I have next to some Network Rail Infrastructure. I hate jumping through the NWR hoops. We will not be near the tracks but may have to drag some brash out, theoretically branches could end up on the line if we did something stupid. Each time I have done work near the railway I go round and round with them asking for different information and making it more and more complicated. The last job I had NWR quoted thousands for a shut down and my client just went with a different company (one without a fixed abode) who just did the job.
  9. Wearing a properly fitted n95 mask apparently gives you a decent level of protection. So if vunerable why wouldn't you wear a mask when the alternative is likely death. My mil has an auto immune disease and even though she is on her 5th jab they are not convinced it will give her any protection. She and the fil wear n95 masks and why wouldn't you?
  10. Be careful not to do to much to soon. I had a phase of breaking my collar bones. 3 breaks in 5 years. I think I delayed recovery going back to work and dragging while in a sling. It feels fine then you push a bit or stumble and grab something then realize your mistake.
  11. Some thieves will be smart where as others will be stupid. It's not going to do any harm having a tracker and as I said, the fact I know where my teams are is great and means they won't be tempted to go and do things they should not be doing when they are supposed to be working..
  12. Small. About the size of a match box.
  13. You can hide them so I think they could still be very valuable and you can set it up so you get a message when it moves so still could help .
  14. I have been looking for GPS trackers for years but always been put off by the initial purchase and ongoing subscription costs, I purchased some a few years back that needed a sim card and they were OK, but you needed to top up the credit and charge them and so we ended up not using them. A few months ago I did another search and came across GPS Bob (https://gpsbob.com/). I tried a few and think they are great, I now fit them to all our vehicles. Go to their web site to find out what they do but basically for a one off purchase price (£140 inc VAT) you get a tracker with no ongoing costs that should last 5 years without needing a top up. They are easy to install and if you change the vehicle it can easily be removed. I am sure there are better options for theft protection, but I find it really useful to see where teams are. Some will think it is all big brother and I am spying on the teams and it is true I can see what time they leave the yard, or if they are parked down the pub, or even speeding. But it is great to know where they are. I can let clients know when they are on their way, without having to call. I can redeploy teams who get done. The backup has been great, we did have a few issues, but I contacted them via the web site and the UK based team phoned me up and sorted it. Definitely recommend. View full review

  16. What he said.. You would need to be on shrinkable soil, tree would have needed to be there before house causing a persistent moisture deficit and even if those things were true there is nothing practical you could do about it anyway.
  17. Some one else did it.
  18. You also get lots of low value jobs from Facebook in my experience.
  19. Isn't that is what a private pension does..?
  20. I think probably it is more dangerous. Lots of instances where you might want to get out of a tree quick or with one hand. It's certainly not safer. It's just not required.
  21. I don't understand why you need knots, unless you run out of rope? Up until a few years ago all tree climbers used to ascend and descend was a rope with some type of friction hitch. No backup or anything.
  22. Back in my rock climbing days (20+years ago) we were taught to back up the descender with a sling or even a shoe lace tied with a prusik knot, if you didn't and for some reason lost consciousness or dropped the rope you would end up descending freely. You could still rappel with one hand as you hold the prusik knot as you tend the rope. It took me a while to get my head around tree climbing where we just relied on rope on rope. The knots every 3m sound like a complete waste of time, you could have one at the end of the rope if you really needed. The op really should get some training as they seem to be making it much more complicated than it needs to be.
  23. We had two 250's, only reason we got rid was the lack of spares. We made one good machine from the two. I did notice them both come up for sale 6 to 12 months later and they were advertised as both running so he must have had some luck with spares.
  24. Thanks
  25. No,makes a sound like it's trying then stops.
