  1. I was hoping for a positive story..🙁. It's a worry as there was no particular incident. I thought it was from using the computer and so got an ergonomic mouse and keyboard. I then thought maybe I was agravating it running as I did Snowdon and London marathons this summer. But been resting (cba) since London and it's not improved.
  2. I have had a dodgy shoulder for decades, I can't really remember when it was great. I blame pull starting saws and climbing with a prussic. But for the last 5-6 months it has been totally buggered. Luckily (as I would not be able to) I don't do any real work or climbing these days. I got a physio appointment 6 weeks ago where the Dr diagnosed a rotator cuff tear. She sent me away with a load of exercises which have not helped. Has anyone any experience/recovered from rotator cuff injury. There was no incident and my googling suggests it's wear and tear. It's really starting to piss me off. Went away with the sea kayaks to Scotland in the summer and didn't even take them off the roof. Currently on holiday in Morroco watching family surfing and even body boarding results in significant pain

    Land Rover Defender 130 TD5 Tipper year 2000. 109,000 miles Current owner since 2011 and it has been serviced annually even though only doing 4 or 5000 miles a year. The previous owner, owned it for 3 years also only doing 6,000 miles a year and also servicing it annually. Previous to that it was owned by Severn Trent water, fitted with a hiab and was used for installing manholes down farm tracks. Snorkel and full diff breather kit fitted. Discover STT Cooper tyres on modular wheels Wide arches Aluminium tipper body with full length toolbox Telescopic ram not scissor lift Roof top beacon Checker plate wing tops Milled aluminium gear knobs Adjustable tow hitch Winch bumper New seat covers and floor mats Over £3,600 spent last year repairing the chassis/bulkhead and sorting all the little issues, chassis is now in great condition and waxoiled. MOT until October 2022. Please note it has been a working vehicle for 20 years. It has bumps and knocks, the paint is faded, the roof liner was sagging and has been stapled into place, the door locks are broken. But mechanically it has had regular fluid and filter changes it has not been pimped, chipped or messed with and as such it is a rare land rover. The TD5 is regularly called the ultimate land rover engine, reliable, dependable and repairable. You will struggle to find a more genuine and less abused Land Rover.   5. I hate paying tolls but there is something about the m6 toll. When you enter it feels like this is what motorways should be. Wide lanes, free flowing traffic. It's not very long and probably only saves 10 mins, but worth it.
  6. Has anyone managed it with NPTC or LANTRA? I have someone with qualifications from Hong Kong, it would be good if he did not have to redo all the training and assessments.
  7. Pretty sure the fire was accidental. Idiots used a gas axe to cut gates, locks etc.. They did take a fire extinguisher from one of our trucks.
  8. Has anyone one done it? I am struggling to get my head round how to fit everything in?
  9. Footage of the fire.. It is low enough that people think they can break stuff and take other peoples property, but the thought that they would leave a fire that potentially causes MASSSIVE damage and even risks loss of life. The other side of the fire is a rubber menage, there are 50 odd caravans, some industrial units that all easily could have gone up. Luckily we had had some rain, it wasn't windy and the barn had a lot less hay then it often does. To leave that fire and not alert the fire services sickens me.. It shows a lack of any empathy..   11. I posted our recent theft/fire on the facebook site, but would rather discuss things here.. Canopy Tree Services, were robbed yesterday morning. They got away with our Timberwolf T230 chipper and JoBeau B37 Stump grinder and plant trailer. They caused the usual damage cutting through gates etc to get in and also managed to set a fire completely destroying the contents of a shipping container, writing off another of our wood chippers (the BC1000xl) and damaging one of our trucks. Anyway, luckily we still have 3 chippers a Vermeer 230 xl, GM130 and GM tracked 1928. We are currently only running 2 or 3 teams so we can keep operating fine if a little slower without the big chipper and the tracked machine is less convenient. Things have changed a fair bit since our chipper original chipper choices. We have always liked the bigger machines but had to have a couple of smaller machines because of drivers. Now with the 750Kg limit scrapped and the better performance of more modern chippers I am considering getting 2 mid size replacements. rather than one big and one small. What do you think, and should I be considering other manufactures. Are Forst now reliable? They had a terrible reputation a few years ago. Any others brands I should consider?

  13. What are people getting for arb arisings, chip and logs. Last year we were getting £12 per ton for chip and £10 for logs. I am happy to stay with current purchaser but checking prices haven't risen massively..
  14. So who pays for damage when the freelancer causes damage to the employers kit or during works?
  15. A freelancer has his rope cut by an employee while working at a firm. Id it the freelancers problem and the cost of doing business. The employed groundie as they actually caused the damage. Or should the company be replacing the rope as it was their employee who caused the damage.. I am interested in others opinions.

  17. You might not be able to see from the photos but the stump has grown over the stones. It's basically an old coppice about 2ft across. The stone mason wanted it ground out. I am looking for a solution. We don't know what they will find when they pull off the stones. Hopefully it will dig out but if there is a big old stump behind the wall it may make sense to grind it back.
  18. Does anyone in the east midlands have a digger mounted grinder. I have a few stumps on an historic wall that needs to be repaired.
  19. I disagree, it's not an issue now and won't be for years. It can be a positive feature for 15 years and then removed. Trees don't have to be left to grow until they reach there full size. You can remove them before then.

  21. I don't know for sure this is what retired climber meant but an advert stating "young" would be classed as age discrimination. I doubt many on here are specialists in employment law, I am not and generally only like to comment when I am confident I know what I am talking about. However as I understand it potential employees have rights and you could get in grief if an older person applied for the job and they could prove they did not get the job due to their age.
