  1. I haven't considered that but think it would need a lot of extension to work. I like the look of the Kong Duck ...I have a ropeman 2 but its tight to get cord and krab on it...otherwise this is the perfect setup....LOLER wasn't over the moon with it ...but he doesn't like anything that isn't brand new and a mangled old shackle didn't help. Think I just need to find the right krab...before I buy another cam device. Thanks for your help
  2. I like the o-rig setup ....will definately give it a go when I have some time, not having a spliced eye and having to use 3 krabs puts me off a bit ...need to get a couple of bits to make it neater. I guess I am really after a setup I can just clip or unclip...
  3. You're all making me want a mx bike now.... ... tried to convince Wife I need to go for days riding training...
  4. Wish he was my neighbour ..would have been hours of entertainment...
  5. Searching "time lapse tree pruning" throws up some interesting results... Now I know how they do it!
  6. Recovery is impressive.. What did the mulching involve...chip?
  7. It does look a hassle and not as refined as I'd like but works well length wise...I don't like it too close - so it comes just close enough and also extends just far enough but not too far... I'll keep using it for now.
  8. Ok so some pics of the setup I copied as it stands as of tonight... Seems to work pretty well, and should do the job...any comments appreciated. Got a tree I can try it out on tomorrow
  9. It certainly does work well like that ...better view of what a spectator would actually see without having to spend time watching.. Wish I could locate that vid from Europe illustrated this really well with up to three climbers in the tree at one point....Was on the forum but must be on an old or archived version.
  10. Nice Ian! .. Was just about to post about a time lapse Poplar reduction from Holland/Belgium some years ago if anyone can remember..? Time lapse for tree jobs works really well imo..
  11. I used a lyon tape sling to the bottom attachment point ...I haven't got any pics though. I thought that the ropeman2 was a little aggressive in its design and how it shredded the outer braiding on the cord thought about maybe filing the teeth a little but even then its still difficult to find a decent way of attaching it to a krab ...only a shackle or small maillon fits. Something adjustable is what I want...daisy chains seem a pretty good idea but they have to be properly rated. Still looks like a split tail and friction hitch is the best option...just bulky.
  12. Nice suggestion ...dunno if I have the skills but could give it a go
  13. Watched this earlier....good viewing for a gloomy Sunday BBC iPlayer - Speed Dreams: The Fastest Place on Earth: Episode 1
  14. Has anyone got any decent simple setups they wish to share... LOLER man doesn't like me choking a sling to it...at the moment I am thinking of trying out a split tail with prussik....did try a ropeman on prussik cord but that wasn't popular either...although I think I could refine this to an acceptable std. Thanks
  15. Indeed! and it should stay like that...Main sucker is at the base of the root plate but I'll keep an eye out for others when its in leaf..
  16. Chanced across this fine Sorbus Torminalis the other day ... considered it worth sharing.....pics are poor and think it could benefit from another prop....
  17. Nice Lime isn't it ...would be interested to see how if is fairing... Pretty familiar with most of the Oaks in the Park but can't picture any champion american Oaks...my memory needs jogging ...unless its up by the main road?
  18. Would be interested in American Oak details? Pics? Can't place it from recall.... Has anyone clocked the large diameter hollowed out lime on the golf course...would love some pics of that....
  19. Many thanks for split tail and other goodies received the other day...all of which will get much needed use!! Cheers!
  20. I think this would have been the only alternative in this situation..
