  2. I'm really shallow, i get them sent to her work so all her collegues can see how nice and thoughtful i am. Jamie
  3. I'm off a drive with my hand warming up for a proper slap. Jamie
  4. surely an anti-perspirant would warm you up where as a deoderant would make you smell nicer. Jamie
  5. Oppo? does deoderant reduce efficiency that much Jason? i must say i've never noticed, maybe in the winter we should apply a whole body coating Jamie
  6. my trousers have a few minor rips in them, around the ankles. I'd say they look used not smart but not too scruffy. One of the guys at work keeps getting told to wash (himself and his clothes) maybe we should tell him he isn't coming on domestic jobs until he smells better. Jamie
  7. I've tied a munter / italian hitch to come down ona fair few times, normally from a spar. Jamie
  8. or when one of the guys on teh squad doesn't tell you the tractor wont come out of the crawler box, and it has to get towed home all 20 miles. on a friday night:sneaky2:, but i'm home the rest of the squad are still on the road to the yard:001_cool: Jamie
  9. I know so many people in secure jobs who all of this came as a surprise to. We did a lot of site clearances and overnight they just stopped. for the past year we have been commenting on how easy it was to borrow money and it wasn't sustainable. with me Visa were kind enough to increase my spending limit from 2k one year to 10k the next year. luckily i'm not completely stupid. i'm sure we all enjoyed the spending spree while it occured. Jamie
  10. Bill, Tenex yalex etc are super easy to splice, all you need is some tape, a biro and rope. Jamie

  14. 50 a day as a newbie sounds good, better than what i got right at the start. having said that it all depends on your living costs, dependants etc josh, some hope comes as people progress and develop and they can earn more / are worth more. jamie

    New Knife

on my harness i keep the small petzl spatha, its small, and has a carabiner hole I don't use it for anything serious but it cuts a tensioned line quickly. it lives on a keyring crab i have a leatherman wave, i've had it 8 years now. one of the guys at work has the same knife bob. Jamie
  22. Sounds like you grabbed the bull by the horns Mr Bish. I don't think i explained myself right way back on page 2. My boss only comes out with that for teh climbers who state that they are the be all and end all and want super high wages. if you come along and say you are new you get a chance to show your ability to learn and potential. noone is perfect straight from college (at all really). Right at the start you should be on teh ground learning how a saw works before you get in a tree. learning how different woods react etc. bit of time on teh ground learning the skills involved on terra firma then think about climbing Jamie
  23. i started at the bottom, i went in saying i was fresh out of a semi related degree course and had just aquired my basic tickets and i was doing my RFS cert arb. he deals this way with people who come in saying that they can do anything and demand top dollar. on a side note i'd say that i think i'd pass his test these days. Jamie
  24. he doesn't but its funny how the vast majority realise they ain't up to it. sort the wheat from the chaff. Jamie
  25. I've been working all weekend. saturday saw 3 fills of a 200t, today has seen 7 fills of a 200t and 1 fill of a 575 and half the tree is still there. Jamie
