    teamwork!

On a positive note, he was a good communicator, nothing worse than a climber who lacks verbal confidence whilst in the tree.
  2. Ok Oakwilt, you've forced me to make a serious point - Afghanistan will become a failed state if NATO forces leave now. Before the US and UK attacked Taleban governed Afghanistan, al Quada were using the country for a base from which to carry out sickening acts of terrorism. Is that what you want Afghanistan to return to?
  3. I didn't know you liked Morrissey Ed. As for fitting kitchens - dull. You should be thankful you do treework. I hope to stihl be climbing in my 70s albeit with a zimmer harness.
  4. Oakwilt, you need to laugh once in a while , the world aint so bad - If these animals can have laugh, surely you can to? [ame= ] [/ame]

    stretch airs

I went through 2 pairs if Stihl Hi Flex before I tried the Stretch Airs, the Stretch Airs are superior by a long way. You wont be disappointed. Buy them. You could sell that Lap Top and get a few pairs.
  7. Who are they and where are they based? Are they like Trust? cause I didn't get a good feeling for Trust, mind you I didn't get a good feeling about Camberford Law and I went with them kast year. Think I'll go for Algarve/Lycetts this year.
  8. Seems a bit excessive. Are you just being brave because your on the internet? Many people are braver in the internet. Take Facebook for instance - people write all kinds of stupid stuff and get into all kinds of trouble. Be cautious about being brave. However, if your really interested in smacking people's mouths, try JKD at Tommy Carruthers Gym in Glasgow, I think you'd like it.
  9. One of the buzzheads posted a vid of a portable capstan winch in action, looks powerful. Not sure if its the same as 'proclimbers'. http://revver.com/video/277924/capstan-winch/ Here's the thread - http://www.treebuzz.com/forum/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=85241&an=0&page=3#85241 The portable winch website - http://www.portablewinch.com/en/ Hope this helps. Its on my list of wanted equipment.
  10. I want one, but I'm scared the back axle of my pick up might snap off when i attempt to drive off.
  11. Why didn't you sell them the superior GRCS?
  12. Very good, are you gonna re-paint/tidy up the chipper?
  13. Pity, the Hobbs is excellent as well.
  14. Bodean, Re GRCS Lift - Are you just using a small 2 stroke powerdrill like you use for drilling holes for eye bolts in cabling to rotate the capstan?
  15. Jay, do they have one of these at your college? If they do, but they dont know what its for, tell them its useless and that you'll give them £30.00 for it. Then sell it to me for £40.
  16. That 'Flying Capstan' as its sometimes called in the UK is a copy of the original Portawrap 1, designed by Scott Prophet. And it's very worrying to think your teachers dont know how to work it.
  17. Yeah, nearly right....the chunk needed 2 hands to guide it the right way, what your seeing in the pic is the moment just after the climber had pushed it 2 handed and quickly grabbed the stem with one hand to force it round even more.
  18. We were working on one of the last big dead Elms in our area. The saw(Husky 372xp) got trapped in the kerf despite the use of step cuts. There was an old stone wall beneath the stem, which meant there was no way that log could be allowed to free fall. The climber attempted to slide the log in the required direction to miss the wall. The log was very heavy, anyone who has worked on Elm will know what I'm talking about. The bark was flaking away and the spikes weren't grabbing. Trying to move the log one handed whilst holding the saw with the other was impossible, so the saw had to take a dive in the interests of saving the wall. It worked. The saw was fine. And yes, that is another log jammed in the crotch below. Here's some more pics to put it in context.....
  19. No problem, I'll explain what happened as soon as I find the rest of the pics. Here's the original uncropped.
  20. Try these diagrams for help........
