What I did was to approach local tree consultants and suggest I that I should be out surveying for them. They would write up reports. Then I ended up writing the reports for them. Then I repeated that process. Now my work is divided up between sub-consulting and work from my own businesses. You can learn a great deal from working with as many people as possible.

I can't remember who mentioned a book called 'The Secret Barrister' on here, but it spells out why you should always opt for court appearances when in 'trouble'.

I have a mate who was doing 90 in a 50 zone and it cost him a trip to court, three points and £650 to sort out. In his defence, it had been a 70 zone until recently and he was unable to carry out work activities without a vehicle.
