  1. I tend to ignore the US news, when possible, and focus on issues closer to home.
  2. Me too. You must remember though that the people doing their VE celebrations and jaunts to the beach will have caused a similar spike. Cummings has alot to answer for. Which he never will answer for. Try and stay away from extreme publications on the net.
  3. They should get rid of monuments to people with shady pasts. Whack them in the empty houses of parliament when they build that new one in Milton Keynes, as a permanent reminder of what happens when the ruling classes get above their station.
  4. I dunno. I think that racism is an unnecessary factor in 21st century life. I'd like to see the end of it. While they play us against ourselves we'll always be subject to divide and conquer. I think now is as good a time as any to get to the bottom of things.
  5. Mate, Dr Fauci, is an American advisor. I'm more interested in what is going on over here. Do you think Trump is a Christian? I think he's a fraud. And aye, I do believe in science because it's easy to prove or disprove things by applying the same models and seeing if the results tally. I'm not about to believe people who said a month ago that the 'R' has to drop below a certain level, only to renege on that and say that now their 5 tests have been satisfied, lets all make some bubbles.
  6. I was trying to convey that pitching one set of slavery against another is essentially deflection from the matters at hand.
  7. I'm inclined to believe the scientists. They tend to provide sources for their reasoning.
  8. That's the spirit!
  9. I've been on the bones of my arse and I've had the wolves at my door more than once, so I empathise with your situation. There seems to be long lasting effects from the damage Covid does. I had something similar at the beginning of March (I'll find out if I've had it in two weeks when antibody tests become available to the general public). My lungs are still bad from it and my eyeball is bloodshot from the coughing I had. I'm reasonably fit, 43 years old. There are going to be long term repercussions from this. I have suffered massively in terms of coin. I was about to launch the greatest tree surveying company there has ever been. That's all on the back burner for now. If I have to, I'll get a proper job.
  10. "Lockdown up here is still in place Mark whilst the actual numbers ref death due to the virus are at zero or single figures" It seems to be working. Johnson is only trying to kick start things because he's massively cocked up the response to the outbreak. I realise you're happy with the idea of going back to work, I think we all are, but I'd rather have an elderly family member that has lived a bit longer than have a few extra quid in my pocket. A no deal brexit is going to hammer us anyway, we might as well spend some time with our loved ones.
  11. Aye, they've erased loads of history of the empire and its conquests too. Whack it all in a museum. If people want to learn about the slave trade/empire, then let them. You should see what the Vikings got up to in Cornwall in 807 AD.

    Jokes???

  13. If we're following the science, why do we need the politicians in the briefings?
  14. You should see the plight of the North East mate. Replace Sturgeon with Johnson and we're on the same page.
  15. The government have handled things as well as could have been expected. The data was there before the lockdown was implimented over here. You don't need to be a scientist to realise that the government has caused thousands of people to die 'before their time'.
  16. Good question. I suppose that race and racism are befitting descriptors.
  17. Variations of the same species.
  18. Fast-twitch muscle response. Is athletic performance determined by genetics? - Genetics Home Reference - NIH GHR.NLM.NIH.GOV From the article " Athletic performance is also strongly influenced by the environment. Factors such as the amount of support a person receives from family and coaches, economic and other circumstances that allow one to pursue the activity, availability of resources, and a person’s relative age compared to their peers all seem to play a role in athletic excellence. A person’s environment and genes influence each other, so it can be challenging to tease apart the effects of the environment from those of genetics. For example, if a child and his or her parent excel at a sport, is that similarity due to genetic factors passed down from parent to child, to similar environmental factors, or (most likely) to a combination of the two? It is clear that both environmental and genetic factors play a part in determining athletic ability."
  19. There’s No Scientific Basis for Race—It's a Made-Up Label WWW.NATIONALGEOGRAPHIC.COM It's been used to define and separate people for millennia. But the concept of race is not grounded in genetics.
  20. How many thousands of years? You could write speeches for Trump with patter like that.
  21. USA demands Prince Andrew is handed over to face questions over Epstein METRO.CO.UK He is reportedly part of a criminal investigation. The royalty serves no purpose in this day and age. Give them a house each and end it. Send that nonce to jail too. While we're at it, build a new, fit for purpose, house of parliament somewhere North and turn the existing place into a museum.
