Once Again several members of this forum having a pissing contest to see who can be the biggest twat on the forum maybe someone could actually offer some constructive advice You’d have thought all the “experienced” cutters commenting on the thread from their bedroom in mummy’s house might have been able to suggest that the RA and MS statement not only talk about the process of cutting the windblown tree but also about emergency details, ie nearest access for ambulance, first aid facilities, who’s in charge, what the “standard” kit setup is, signing and guarding the area to prevent public access etc hopwfully these are are few ideas to get you moving on this project. I would also look at the FISA guidelines and the Arboricultiral association for RA templates and method statements any problems and I be happy to send mine over for this type of work good luck

I’ve been using Arbpro since June 2014, I certainly wouldn’t use anything else. I probably don’t use it to it’s full capabilities but the quoting and invoicing plus job booking and risk assesment feature saves me a good few hours every week meaning lots less office time

Actually I feel like I should expand on my previous post I once approached a guy who owned a tree company through a friend of a friend about some work. I’d not long left the company I had been working for and was looking for the next step in my climbing career he told me to come in the next Sunday morning at 8am, I duly arrived and was told I was plotting on shrubs in the Polly tunnel. 10l into 15l pots. I did that for 6 or 7 hours until we went grass cutting at the local college. We were there for a good few hours and I didn’t get home till nearly 8. Obviously proved my worth and started on for him the next day. Ended up in the end doing most of his quoting and bought his chipper off him as I went out on my own and he was winding down. Still got some of his customers 12/13 years later on take from that what you will

Stevie ive only ever used the flail on my machine with the rocker switch. I had engcon set my machine up so that I could operate it on a switch as well so the flail was either on or off but can honestly say I’ve never used it

The flail on my 6 tonne machine manages about 4-5 inch diameter that’s using a femac te80 rev forestal flail

I might be wrong matty but I think the finger teeth bolt pattern is the same as the green teeth bolt pattern. It was on my old Carlton grinder I had a few years back. If you measure the bolt centres tomorrow il check the green teeth on my predator (I’ve literally changed from multitip to green teeth on my predator this afternoon)

For most of my work I think I’d struggle with a machine smaller than my 6 tonne volvo ive often thought that a smaller machine might be handy but if I need to get into somewhere generally I can sell the concept of removing a fence post and reinstating it at the end off the job to make the job more efficient and ultimately a bit cheaper Long term il probably end up with a 8-9 tonne machine

I’ve got an old fransgard winch, does the job well for us when we need it. It was a bit small behind my old valmet and is even smaller behind my new t150 il probably upgrade at some point but there’s very little to go wrong with it

My woodland mills 126 has got a second frame beneath it, certainly makes it more solid and easier to level. I could also potentially pick it up with my roof mount and move it on my low loader trailer if I needed to take it to a job

Chipping up following felling of a row of Monterey cypress on a development site

Stayed on after school to do some ALevels with a view to going to university. Not really sure what I’d planned on doing as I was to busy smoking weed, skateboarding and checking the surf. Ended up getting 3 poor alevels (design technology, art and geography) and going through clearing and getting on an environmental building course at Plymouth university. After 6 months of skateboarding and selling a bit of weed in Plymouth I threw the towel in and got a job in France working on a campsite near Paris. Worked on the campsite and skated in Paris for a season then came home and got a job with a builder for a couple of years. the work dried up in the end but spotted a job in the paper for a trainee tree surgeon, started on with a company who put me through the basic tickets but got made redundant a year or so later. Registered self employed and went to work for another local guy. Did a couple of years there and went out on my own 10 years ago or there about s. Ended up doing a foundation degree part time 8/9 years ago in Arboricture and tree care to give me a basis for writing reports. Bored of the day to day tree work these days but investing in kits and working on larger sites is keeping me interested for the moment

I just paid 2.6 for this woodland mills hm126. It came with 15 sharp blades, a bed extension and a welded steel frame that the mill is bolted to very happy with it and they seem to be few and far between second hand

Felling 30 pines on a development site, most trees had the roots dug out and a lot of them had a significant lean towards the highway which was well within falling distance. Removed the back weight or dismantled to a spar and pulled stems back into the site. Back tomorrow to chip and extract timber for collection with arctic

We put up a Polly tunnel this year, but late getting going with it but stuffs growing on nicely now. Pictures from a few weeks ago weve got a bed of potato’s in the field which should see us most of the winter
